(As you read this, I am probably in a car with toddlers and teenagers on a trip down to Lynchburg, Virginia to celebrate New Year’s Eve at Liberty University’s Winter Fest. For those of you who don’t know, I am a youth pastor’s wife, so trips like these are a regular thing in my life. I’ll be rocking out to Skillet and Switchfoot, while chasing my two toddlers around the arena. Never fear, I have posts scheduled while I’m away and the hotel has WiFi and I’ll have my laptop. Make sure you visit New Year’s Day for our Furniture Feature Friday link party. It’s a little different this week…you can share any furniture posts from the past year, so make sure you join in. Ok, on to today’s post!)
the ornate chalkboard…
my Mod Podge shelf…
the glittered wish banner…
the sheet music and antique book wreath…
and my moss bowl topiaries.
All of these projects were simple, quick, cheap and turned out great. I am so excited to see what inspires me in 2010.
I have always done little projects around my house, not realizing that there was a whole blog world out there with all kinds of inspiration! Starting a blog gave me a lot of motivation to work on little projects in between the big ones. These are some of my favorites from this year…
My brass-turned oil rubbed bronze lamp with hemp twine shade…
a revamped chandelier with glue gun “candle wax drips”…
the ornate chalkboard…
my Mod Podge shelf…
the glittered wish banner…
the sheet music and antique book wreath…
and my moss bowl topiaries.
All of these projects were simple, quick, cheap and turned out great. I am so excited to see what inspires me in 2010.

I am posting this to Blue Cricket Design’s Show & Tell.

So glad you commented on my blog because now I know about yours and I really love it and your story of how your selected the name of your business. All of your projects are neat.
I have made that trip many times. Lucky you sitting in Beltway traffic the closer you get to DC. Not.
I love the ornate mirror and glittered wish banner you made.
Have a safe journey and enjoy the Winter Fest!
Your projects are too neat. I love the chalkboard! Have a safe and blessed trip!

I love these types of projects! Sometimes it really is the little things or the simple things that just do it for me.
Enjoy Winter Fest! Wish I was going. I love your little projects. People think they have to wait to do something "big" in their home, but you've shown that little details really add a homey touch. Keep up the great work.
I loved all the projects! I can't wait to whip out my glue gun this spring on some topiaries of my own! Thanks for sharing – so inspiring to see everyone's projects to spark creativity in myself as well!
Just stopping by to say Hi! I Love your Blog! Very Inspiring!
My daughter lives in Lynchburg & is a LU Alumni! She loved it there so much..She decided to stay. We are about 4 hrs away in MD…Have you guys ever ventured to Natural Bridge? So pretty there!
Wishing you & your Family a Beautiful time at Winterfest!
Blessings ~ Teresa
Oh I forgot to ask you – have you ever seen a mustard seed necklace? If not – I think you need one. My sister wears hers every day & she blogged about it at the link below. If you are interestd I'll find out where she got them from for you.

Have a wonderful trip and really enjoy all of the young people. I love all of your projects, and the paper wreath is just stunning. May you have a Blessed and Happy New Year. Hugs, Marty
I'm impressed with all your projects! The challenge is for you to make something I DON'T like! 🙂
I finally found the "good" moss at Walmart last night. I'm tall and the moss was on the bottom shelf, kind of smooshed out of sight. What the hey?! Is moss only for munchkins?? Anyhow, I'm fixing to get crafty today …
Have fun!
You are so inspiring Miss Mustard Seed. I love, love the glue gun candle drips! I hope you are having a wonderful trip.
So fun! Love that ornate chalkboard and the sheet music wreathe!
They are my favorite too!!
I am SO going to add glue drips on my chandelier! It needs SOMETHING and that is IT! Also, I'm going to add my sheet music wreath later 🙂
Ok, the glue gun drips are one of the most creative things I have ever seen! Wow, no wonder I started following you, I knew I'd like you!

Have a blast at Winterfest!! We have several youth and leaders from our church going as well. I just couldn't stomach such a LOOOONNNNGGGG trip with it not being an overnighter from where we live to let my kids go, though!
Stay safe, and enjoy!!
Have fun rockin'!
