Furniture Feature Friday

Furniture Feature Friday | no. 5

Happy Friday!  It’s the best furniture-loving day of the week.  This week has just flown by for me and I can hardly believe that next week is Thanksgiving!  Oh my.  Are you ready? Well, before we get to the grocery shopping, pie baking, and football, let me share some of my favorites from #FurnitureFeatureFriday5 shared on Instagram over the past week… Jen of @greensprucedesigns sells at Sweet Clover Barn, which is near my old stomping grounds.  And I simply loved this richly-painted desk that she recently finished.  The simple styling is great, too! A post shared by jen green washington, dc (@greensprucedesigns) on Nov 15, 2017 at 6:24pm PST And how graphic and amazing is this highboy by Stephanie of @stephanie_rehabtofab?  My word.  Girl’s got some skills. A post shared by Stephanie Coon – Rehab to Fab (@stephanie_rehabtofab) on Nov 10, 2017 at 3:24pm PST And lastly, I love this

Furniture Feature Friday | no. 4

My boys have a four day weekend, so I am feeling totally out of whack!  I didn’t want to miss FFF, though and, as always, I found so many inspiring posts!  It even has me tempted to dive into painting my butler’s pantry, but I have other things I need to work on first.   Anyway, if you want to see some of my other favorites, you can check out my Instagram Stories, but here are the top three I selected to feature this week… I love this hanging bead board cabinet by @mywhitefarmhouse and her entire Instagram feed is lovely!  Doesn’t it look like her dog is smiling, too? A post shared by Gina Gerhardt Thorpe (@mywhitefarmhouse) on Nov 9, 2017 at 6:09am PST   I also love this pretty hutch from @ourstouthome.  The blue and white caught my eye, of course, but it’s a great example of beautiful

Furniture Feature Friday | No. 3

Happy Friday!  When it’s Friday, you know what that means.  The weekend, yes.  But, also Furniture Feature Friday is back! Here are my favorites from last week… This dresser by Dionne of The Turquoise Iris is just a show-stopper.  Well, everything she does is!  Part artist, part furniture gal.  Dionne is definitely a kindred spirit.   I love this furniture rearrangement shared by Meggie of @truelockdesigns .  It can be hard to pull off mismatched chairs, but she did a great job at pulling this stunning space together.   Lastly, this choice surprised me.  I wouldn’t have given a chest in this style a second look, but Pat of @thewoodspa handled it brilliantly!  She painted the piece in a watercolor-inspired finish and those swallow knobs put it over the top.  So well done!  (And she did that watercolor, too!) If you don’t have an Instagram account, you can still browse

Furniture Feature Friday | no. 2

As I’m sitting here, looking through the #FurnitureFeatureFriday2 feed, it’s snowing outside.  I know there is a collective groan in Minnesota, but I am enjoy the magic of the snow falling in contrast to a flickering fire in the Living Room fireplace. There’s also something nostalgic about looking furniture posts and picking favorites.  I started the FFF party in the very early days of my blog and it was such an amazing way to connect with other creatives and I’m enjoying that aspect of starting this up again.  I’m finding and following many new-to-me feeds filled with furniture inspiration. So, here are some favorites from last week… Isn’t this coffee table by @cedarandgrayinteriors just perfection?  I love the hardware and that rustic wood top contrasted with the painted drawers.  The styling is also brilliant!  I love the large book open with the metal basket lined with old books layered on

Furniture Feature Friday | no. 1

Welcome to our first Furniture Feature Friday 2.0, number 1!  Yay!  I can’t tell you how glad I am that I brought this back in a new format. I found so much inspiration and new furniture-loving-friends to follow.  I know a few of you were bummed that Furniture Feature Friday is taking place on Instagram, but it’s really much easier than requiring someone to have a blog to enter.  Getting an Instagram account is free and very simple! If you don’t have an Instagram account, you can still browse through this week’s entries from your computer, tablet, or mobile device by following THIS LINK. Now, for favorites… I couldn’t even begin to pick and showcase all of my favorites, because there were so many.  Seriously.  There were awesome antiques, makeovers, upholstered pieces, recent finds, and on and on and so many were soooooo good. So, I just picked a few

Painting the Daybed & Furniture Feature Friday!

Before I share the progress on the daybed, remember Furniture Feature Friday?  Someone mentioned it to me in a comment a couple of days ago and it sparked an idea.  Why not bring it back, but host it on Instagram by using the hashtag #FurnitureFeatureFriday ?  It’s much simpler than the old school link parties and it’ll be a fun way to see and showcase the work and finds of others. Here’s how it will work… This will take place on Instagram, so you do have to have a public Instagram account to play along.  Just share a piece of furniture and use the hashtag, so myself and others can find it.  It doesn’t have to be painted furniture, but can be a favorite find, a new arrangement, a makeover, whatever.  As long as furniture is included. And I’ll pick and feature my favorites on my Instagram account and here

step-back cupboard reveal

I shared my progress on the step-back cupboard yesterday and here it is all prettied up! As a reminder, here is how it looked before.  Well, it had part of the first coat on the top, but this angle better shows what a mess it was! My goal in giving it a makeover was not to make it look new, but to retain it’s age and charm and lose the pencil scribbles, grease spots, spray paint, and definitely the cobwebs and dirt.  It didn’t need an extreme makeover, but a little attention to bring out the beauty of the inset door panels, hardware and utilitarian shape. Again, I painted it in a custom mix of two part Eulalie’s Sky to one part Layla’s Mint, both from the MMS Milk Paint line.  The back and inset panels were painted in Linen.  I finished it out in matte Tough Coat. And isn’t

Megan’s office makeover | Craig’s List Wardrobe Reveal

After lots and lots of painting, the Craig’s List wardrobe we found for Megan’s office makeover is finished! And, here she is.  The beast herself… Megan came to the studio yesterday to help us with the final coat of green on the outside (a custom mix of MMS Milk Paint in Boxwood, Lucketts Green and Mustard Seed Yellow) and the interior in Linen. Kriste and Megan also worked on cutting and hemming the curtains.  We’re just going to hang them on clips, so they just needed a double hem on three sides.  We’re going to hem the bottom in the room, once the curtains are hanging, so they hit the floor at the perfect height. This morning, my dad came over and installed some shelves in it, so it can be functional for storage. He screwed 1 x 2 supports along the back and some scrap pieces of wood on
