Link Party and Favorite Furniture Before & Afters of 2009

I painted and refinished a lot of furniture this year.  I didn’t keep count, but I should have.  It’s probably around 30-40 pieces!  I’ve been a busy girl.  Furniture has become my niche and my favorite thing to work on.  So in keeping with sharing my favorites of 2009 and in leiu of our usual Furniture Feature Friday, I’m going to share my favorite furniture before and afters from 2009.  There is a link party below, so you can share your favorite furniture makeovers, amazing finds, or treasured pieces with me.  So, on to my favorites…enjoy!

This $1.00 antique store two-tiered table becomes…
an elegant blue/gray and dark walnut side table.
This Queen Anne yard sale vanity becomes…
a chalkboard desk with hand painted detail.
A grungy stool and burlap feedsack become…
a funky and one-of-a-kind work of art for weary feet.
A $1.00 yardsale table becomes…
A clever place to leave bedside messages through a modern interpretation of a doily.
A $35 Craig’s List hutch becomes…
an office cabinet with hidden storage, a fresh coat of white paint, and subtle blue hand painted details.
A crackle-gone-wrong $15.00 vanity becomes…
a clean and classic piece of furniture.
A hall table with beautiful details, but a blah finish becomes…
a stunner with a dark walnut top and antiqued white base.

My $30 Craig’s List French Provincial dresser becomes…
the dresser of my dreams with the addition of some vintage E-bay hardware, a coat of Creamy paint, and a dark walnut top.

There are a lot of other pieces I completed this year that I loved, but they were pre-blog, so I don’t have pictures (bummer.)  Never fear, a lot more furniture will be stripped, stained, sanded, and hand painted and I will have my camera every step of the way in 2010.

On to the New Year’s Day party!  Link up any and all of your favorite furniture posts from the past year.  It’s ok if you’ve shared it before or if it’s an old post.  This is a very relaxed party where we can celebrate our furniture triumphs of 2009 with one another.  It will close Saturday at midnight.

I’m linking this up to Saturday Nite Special over at Funky Junk Interiors.  This is a great link party, so check it out!  In addition, this is linked to the Before & After Party over at Thrify Decor Chic.

  1. your furniture makeovers are really amazing, I love all of them! I have painted a few things this year and I linked to my post of favorite projects of 2009. Hopefully I'll find some more furniture pieces and can link again to your blog 🙂

  2. I'm totally in love with that red desk! I think it's an absolute work of art! I kinda hope you never sell it. Or maybe I should just buy it. Think shipping to Canada would be a tad $$?

Happy New Year, my furniture friend!

  3. what amazing pieces! you inspire me! now, all i need is to find some pieces to work on. the only thing i managed this year is a high chair, but i thought i would link it up since you commented on it on another party. thanks for the comment-i have been following along ever since. happy new year!

  4. You really do beautiful work! I LOVE the bedside table – that was a SUPER redesign. I would like to redo my bathroom cabinets and was planning to paint, but now I'm considering the walnut stain – GORGEOUS!!!

  5. You do such beautiful work!! I have quite a few old pieces that I want to tackle this year. One being an old French Provincial bedroom suite that belonged to me as a child. I would love to re-do it for my guest room. Thanks for the inspiration! Happy New Year! Love & blessings from NC!

  6. You are amazing. I love every piece that you have done. I wish I had the patience to do all the painting that you do. I have a couple of pieces that I need to redo and you are my motivation.

  7. These are all so so awesome and I am in love forever with that red desk.

There's so many link memes going on, I keep forgetting to link to some. I will try my best to remember this one so I can show off some of my furniture cuties…
Hope to remember it for NEXT Friday.d(it is on Fridays, right?)

  8. You HAVE been busy! All of these are so cute, but my heart skipped a beat over that funky stool with the red legs 🙂

  9. Fabulous makeovers. I love the work you've done in completing some amazing tables.

I have a diningroom table and hutch that I would like to paint. So far its a wood colour with that kind of "webbing" at the back of the chairs. Its not a real nice wood. How would I go about finishing it?

I would like it to be a white colour but not a blue white. Do you know a white colour that would be appropriate for a diningroom?

Your help would be so appreciated.
You seem to know it it and I love what I've seen here.
    thank you
