You never know what to expect when you go out to yard sales. Last week was gray and wet and I came back with a great haul. This week, the sun was shining, the weather was gorgeous, there was a community yard sale…those are the makings of a great day of treasure hunting. I got $60 out of the ATM, ready to spend. It was after 10:00 and I was empty handed. Then I spotted this neat little table and some gutter parts sitting on a driveway. A sign said “Free.” I looked around in disbelief. The table is free? I grabbed it up half expecting that someone was going to yell at me for stealing!
I’m not sure what I’ll do with it, yet, but how could I pass up FREE? Look at this beautiful inlay! And one cool thing is that this table folds down flat. I love portable furniture.
This horn was $.25…I thought it would be great for a Christmas wreath or arrangement. And it kept my 2 year old son entertained for a while as he tried to play it.
So, in all, I spent $1.25. I would’ve liked it if my trunk was filled to the brim, but I’ll take what I can get.
On a personal note, my last living grandparent died early this morning. He was a World War II veteran, a highly respected Home Builder, a great tennis player and fisherman, and a wonderful man. I was the closest to him out of all of my grandparents and my oldest son is named after him. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
So sorry for your loss.
Great table. I love free stuff.
I'm sorry for your loss 🙁

I can not believe someone was getting rid of this table for free! These are all over the place ~ they even used these in the Emmy room for the Moroccan theme they did.
I am so sorry about your grandfather. Losing one's last living grandparent is hard…I wish I had great words of wisdom for you but all I can say is that more people than you know are touched by all the work you put in teaching us in this blog and today more people than you ever imagine are mourning with you as well.
Much love and strenght to you and your family…

And what a great little table? Refinish or paint? Red or black laquer…it's got that Asian influence thing going on (at least to me)…and that mirror? I love it.
I'm so sorry about your grandfather.
Didn't Pottery Barn recently have some tables very similar to that, in vibrant colors? Somebody did…
So very sorry for your loss. Praying that you will find peace and comfort in the days ahead.
