frog tape gallery

My husband recently switched out the builder-grade ho-hum trim in the family room with pine board trim that is a bit chunkier and matches the trim in the 1940’s part of our house.

I pulled out the same primer and trim paint I used for the master bathroom and, of course, Frog Tape.

I’ve shown all of the ways I used Frog Tape…for labeling things, sewing projects, holding things in place, etc., but it’s also great at doing what it was made for – creating a clean edge when painting.

I often do cutting in by hand, since I’m pretty proficient with a paint brush, but even I can be sloppy, so it’s nice to put up the tape, paint…

…and know that it will pull off nice and clean, leaving a perfect edge.

The trim work is a subtle change, but it makes a big difference in tying in the old with the new and making the family room look more custom.

3/4 height wainscoting is next…

AND…I have recently found two more non-DIY uses for Frog Tape.  I use the “green tape” to label what my son has to eat in his snack and lunch at school in order to keep his blood sugar balanced, so it’s easy for him and the teachers.  (We found out this week he’s a Type 1 Diabetic.)  After a couple of days, he’s already learning what the green tape means!  I also am using it to tape off my target lines for the Agility workouts in P90X3.  The uses are endless…

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post brought to you by Frog Tape. As with most occasions when I use Frog Tape, I used it and then thought, oh, I can blog about this!  The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.

  1. I love the new trimwork and there is nothing like crisp white against wall color and flooring. It does add a lot. We ripped out all the 2″ builder grade baseboards in our home and installed 5″….in a crisp white. It does give more of a custom look.

So glad your little guy is learning when and what to eat. You made it easy and fun using green frog tape!

    Have a beautiful Friday/weekend 🙂

  2. A friend of mine just bought some milk paint of yours at Suzanna’s Antiques…..she did a great job of painting a small table with it…..She had a question. What is the difference between milk paint and chalk paint?
I felt like she had bought paint from a friend when she said it was “Miss Mustard Seed” paint…..

  3. The trim looks great. I really like how chunky it is.
I wish I was a more proficient painter like you . I’m in the process of painting all of the trim on the main floor of our house. For some reason the builder never painted the quarter round. It looks funny to me against the white molding. So I got the bright idea to paint it. All of it. It is going to take me forever and I have a feeling I’m going to be using a lot of Frog Tape. I love that stuff. It really does leave a nice crisp line when it is removed.
Glad to hear your little guy is adjusting to what he needs to eat. It can be so overwhelming but it sounds like you are making the process easy for him.
    Have a great weekend.

  4. Hey there Miss M.S. I am also a great fan of blue, and I love how your house looks. I was hoping that you could offer some advice. I am contemplating painting the walls of my living room blue, but I am worried about overdoing it. I already have a bluish/grey rug on the wood floor (Pottery Barn’s Maren), the inserts of the coffered ceiling are painted Restoration Hardware’s Seafoam, a light blue, and I have dark teal on the backs of my built ins. The trim is all crisp white, including the 36″ wainscot, and the built ins. The brick fireplace is painted a light neutral color. I painted the walls the same color as the fireplace, but it feels washed out. Should I go with blue again, or perhaps choose a darker neutral, like taupe? Should I make a mood board? Any advice you can give me would be great. Thanks in advance!

  5. Love the wider trim and crisp white paint. Just started following you last week. I enjoy!

  6. Hi there! I am a long-time reader but first-time commenter. Your new trim looks great. I just realized I never properly said thank you for your slipcover tutorial that I used to redo our 70s-era khaki green velour sectional! Your posts are truly inspiring.

  7. We’re painting a lot right now, trim, a banister and cabinets (after finishing the walls). I have decided frog tape is the only way to go, especially when you’re not adept at caulking!

  8. Seeing your trim makes me sooo happy! We have been remodeling FOREVER (seemingly) and I just re-did our trim that looks very similar to yours! My husband just ripped some bigger, pine boards we had left over from projects. It’s clean and now, finished! I guess I needed affirmation that it was okay to do such a simple look…if it’s good enough for Miss Mustard Seed, it’s definitely okay with me! Thanks again for the inspiration! And so glad you got right on the bandwagon for managing your boy’s diabetes…it’s a great way to establish life-long good habits!

  9. I need an update on the new leather sofa, an how much it costs, and how you placed it! Thanks!

  10. It sounds as though you and your little guy are off and running with learning how to live with diabetes. I just wanted to let you know about a fabulous foodie blog written by a mom who also has diabetes (type 1) and young children whom she does not want to grow up to also be diabetic! It is “All Day I Dream of Food” and she has lots of wonderful low carb, gluten free and various combos of those two, recipes. I have made many of her offerings and they have all turned out to be delicious!
I started reading your blog because of the mention of Lucketts, and the upholstery vidoes, and have continued because it is wonderfully written, very informative and I really enjoy watching your house (and you!) evolve and emerge.
LOVE the new wardrobe, or shall I say, the way you pull together new outfits from your closet :-)!
So anyway, best of luck with the new path your son is on, and thank God that there is now so much information available to live well with diabetes.
    Thanks for enriching our lives!

  11. Looks great! Would you share the name of the blue color that your walls are painted? It is beautiful!

  12. Love the trim but more importantly love your innovation in uses for Frog Tape. Marian, you are so very brave. I am a nurse (mostly babies) and have seen families crack with the stress of dealing with a child diagnosed with diabetes. Not only have you been brave enough to admit to your internet family, but jumping right in. The path will not always be easy but you have a good head on your shoulders and a world of support. You are and, I am confident, will continue to make it work. <3

  13. Kathy Jo……..could you please give the name of the person who writes this blog, thanks so much

  14. Congrats on working a good system with your son!! I know that will ease some (a little) of your angst!! The trim looks GREAT, & I know that you are so glad to be able to check that one off your list! Are the walls of this room still painted “Glass Slipper”? They look much bluer than the chip of G.S. I got at our local Benjamin Moore dealer. Thanks for sharing your heaet & talents with us!!
