And I wiped on some Minwax stain in dark walnut (my favorite.) One tip…always wear gloves when staining. Stain is really hard to wash out of the groves in your skin and your hands will look dirty for days if you don’t. Trust me. I then applied a coat of Minwax Wipe On Poly.
The wood just soaked up the stain and now it’s luster has returned.

Adorable chair!
Someone will treasure it!
WOW! What a difference!
Great job! I learned that lesson about wearing gloves the hard way. I was washing my hands for days trying to get them clean looking.
I am so glad that you came over.
And, you enjoy those precious toddlers!! That cloche will come out before you know it. You would gladly put it back into hiding, when they are older, just to get some "baby time" back!!
Your chair redo is great.

You're right, you don't always have to paint it. I have an old chair that I debated about painting for about a year and then decided it was beautiful the way it was. It's dark wood and the seat is very similar to yours. I love it!
What an incredible amount of eye-candy!
I got your blog address from Central Florida Gardening and I am so glad I did…you have an amazing eye for seeing potential beauty on all things!
Sweet chair. Glad you left the textile! ~ Sarah
What a treasure! I just know you'll treasure this chair for many years to come!
I need you to add my button or link to the party to your post. This is not your fault. I was having so many problems with Google last night I forgot to add the instructions.
Thanks,
Cheri

You just showed me that these projects don't always have to be over the top difficult to look great!
