Well, I was in bed by 7:30 tonight, socked out with a nasty cold. For those of you who read my blog regularly, you know I am a busy girl and I like using every minute of my day. When I’m in bed during my prime work time, you know I don’t feel well. So, I thought I would share some results of my new toy, my mat cutter. I’ve wanted one for years and I finally asked for the Logan Intermediate 450 for Christmas this year. I have a box full of old family photos that I’ve wanted to frame, but it would cost a fortune to have them all custom framed. Since they are old, they are unusual sizes, so store bought mats and frames generally wouldn’t work.
So, with my new mat cutter, I can find old frames when I’m out and about and cut my own mats. Over the last few days, I framed a couple of my favorite family pictures in some antique frames I found in my grandparent’s attic.
This is my absolute favorite family photo of my great-grandmother sitting on her mother’s lap next to her brother. (My mom has the beautiful rocking chair in her living room.) I put it in a large frame to show its importance to me. I also like the antique frame and picture put together in a modern way with the large mat.
This is a picture of my grandmother as a little girl. So sweet. I can’t wait to get more of them framed. It’s very rewarding.
I also had a custom order for a hand painted German Grain Sack. I finished it yesterday and my client was very happy with the results. These will be going in my Etsy store, but until then, let me know if you’re interested in purchasing one.
I just took a Nyquil, so here’s to a better looking tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing those treasured photos. Hope you feel better tomorrow.
Warmly,

I always think of the commercial with the little boy holding up a couple of giant chocolate chip cookies. "Take two of these and call me in the morning!" I hope you feel better soon!

ps Your family pictures are lovely.
LOVE my matte cutter! I've had it since college, it was necessary for all those design boards I had to turn in and it's still going strong years later.
Oh and I hope you feel better! I got sidetracked by the mention of one of my favorite tools. 🙂
Oh! I hope you feel better soon! I spent the last three days down and out with a nasty, nasty cold. It even involved dry heaves in the middle of the night. Strange, awful stuff! I feel so much better today. Get well!
Nyquil will do the trick for sure! Knock you right out and let you sleep! Which is what you need. Love the pics and the frames.
Be well!

Feel better! Those frames are great! I order custom stuff online {and use my trade discount}. Much more affordable then going someplace like Michaels. I bought the tool that puts the divets in the frame to hold the mat in, too.
I love your old photographs. You framed them beautifully. I sure hope you feel better tomorrow. Love & blessings from NC!
Thanks for sharing your lovely photos! I might have to get a mat cutter for myself! I have only a handful of old, heirloom photos, most of which aren't framed because of the odd sizes. I also recently came into possession of a whole box of old photos that my great-aunt doesn't want. Many of them were her mother's (my great-grandmother's) pictures and they are so lovely…I can always find old frames at junk shops, but didn't know how I'd make them fit! Great idea!
Ooh, I just LOVE old photos… So glad you wil be able to hang them now for all to see!
Hope you are feeling better tomorrow- everyone is getting one bug or another this time of year! get some rest~
Great idea..Feel better..lulu

Stunning photos! I have many that need to be properly framed, too. I think that having photos of several generations is more than just decorative, it's a sense of identity. Love it!
Get well soon!
Sarah 🙂
Sure hope you're feeling better today. Give it time and pamper yourself.
LOVE your old photos! I haven't been brave enough to try my own mat cutting but may have to reconsider. Love your blog, too.
Blessings.
What a great gift! I love the photos you shared with us today!
How do you keep up with your blog, business, and special projects and still find time to visit? I haven't a clue, but I was delighted that you stopped by my little blog. Thank you. 🙂
Hope you feel better soon. Hugs!

I would have bought that picture if I saw it in a store. That is so gorgeous and has so much more meaning when you know the subjects.
Oh that rocking chair, now that is a piece to drool over for sure.
Beautifully done…
that is a tool I have had on my list of wants forever.
Hope you are feeling better soon…
Hugs, Deb
Beautiful photos, and now you'll be able to display and enjoy them every day!
How's the learning curve on the mat cutter? Was it fairly easy to get it to work or does it take a lot of practice? I too have a bunch of odd-sized heirloom photos to frame so I wonder if I ought to invest in a cutter of my own.
What a wonderful set of family photos! I love old photos too! Dee Dee
i found your blog today, and i'm browsing through the posts. just stopped to say that my parents have almost exactly the same photograph as the first one you posted here–similar scene (i think there are three children), similar clothing, same giant hairbow. =) i believe they're my great-grandfather with his mother and siblings. i like the way you framed them, with the simple frame and modern mat.
Your grandmother was an adorable little girl and I can actually see the resemblance!
