There’s Enough Bleeding in DIY…

One of my pet peeves when I carefully tape something off and then paint seeps under it. I watch the commercials where people pull the tape off and expose this crisp clean line. When I pull it off, there’s bleeding. Last week when I was in Sherwin Williams I saw a display for Frog Tape. “Does this really work? Because I’ve given up on painter’s tape.” They told me it does and I trust my boys at SW, so I bought it. And it worked! Hallelujah! (and the good people over at Frog Tape have not paid me a cent for saying this!) I bought it just in time to do the stripes on a Steelers desk I’m working on for a client. (Decorative Painting is not just for chicks!)

Make sure the paint your taping on is fully dry and push the tape down to ensure there are no gaps.

I pealed off a little piece of the tape right when I finished…so far so good. The line looked crisp. Let’s see what happens when I pull it all off.

Nice! The stripes were sharp & perfect. This stuff is one of my new favorite painting products. (Don’t mind the dust, it is a workshop!)

There’s enough bleeding that happens from DIY projects (like the wicked glue gun burn I currently have on my left arm), you shouldn’t have to deal with bleeding paint from tape that doesn’t really work. Next time, give Frog Tape a try.

      Dear Miss Mustard Seed,

Your blog caught our eye recently! Love the desk stripes! You’ve proven what we’ve known all along: FrogTape’s PaintBlock Technology makes for crisp, clean paint lines and professional results. The popularity of FrogTape is due to user-generated content from people just like you, rather than a slick corporate marketing campaign. We listen to the real-life experiences of painters like you, and when they do remarkable things with our pro-painter’s tape, we like to give them a voice.

We like what you did with your son's desk, and were wondering if you have those photos (or any other before-and-after or in-use photos of your painting experience with FrogTape) in a high resolution format that you’d care to share? Click http://frogtape.com/submit-your-testimonial.html to submit photos directly on FrogTape.com.
Thanks for the buzz! You can also reach us at FrogTape@gmail.com.

Keep creating beautiful spaces with a little paint, ingenuity, and FrogTape!

How cool that the Frog Tape people contacted you.
I just love this tape. I found it at Target and it was much cheaper than any of our local paint stores.

I am looking forward to viewing the rest of your site.

      Dear Miss Mustard Seed,

I know this is an oldddd post, and you may already know this too, but, here’s a paint tip from a long time ago. When wanting a paint a perfect line on a PAINTED surface, use regular masking tape, and, BEFORE YOU PAINT YOUR SECOND COLOR (your yellow, above), paint the section (or just the area adjacent to the tape) your BASE COLOR AGAIN. That way, if any paint seeps, it will be the same color as the base and won’t show!

for example, with your piece above, you’d paint the whole desk black, let it dry completely (and cure) and put down your tape. Then you’d paint the taped-off stripe edges black AGAIN. Then you’d paint on the yellow! Try it some time when you’ve run out of Frog tape and let me know!

      Thanks for all the inspiration!
