New Buffet Arrangement & Goodwill Goodies

It was time to pack away the pinecones and berries, so I moved some things around in my dining room and came up with this new buffet arrangement.
I went a little cloche happy, here, but I think it works.
I purchased these little cloches on silver pedestals at Salvation Army for $2.50 (for all three) or something crazy like that.  I found the cloches first and wasn’t too impressed, but at another location in the store I saw the pedestals.  “I think these go together…”  Sure enough.  Perfect fit.  I put a piece of my grandmother’s stone fruit on each pedestal.
I matched up a large glass cloche from an antique store with a glass cake pedestal.  They were purchased years apart and look like they were made for each other.  I filled it with my mom’s china, a silver spoon rest, and one of my little silver bowl topiaries
The look is very light and perfect for Spring.
I’ve also been hanging my family photos that I’ve been matting and framing myself and moved some things around in the living room.  My decorating frenzy from December is still going strong!
I also had some good fortune at Goodwill last week.  I found this great…thing.  A rusty piece of…something.  Donna would be so proud.  It was $6.97 and even though I had no clue what it was, I couldn’t help myself.  There’s something very interesting and sculptural about it.
Any ideas what it is?  One of my hubby’s friends said he hopes I find out it’s a part of a toilet or something like that.  I can just picture a bunch of american flags in it or using it as a christmas tree stand.  Lots of possibilities in a what-is-it piece like this.
I also found this pretty tole painted bin for $2.97.  This one is staying as is.

  2. I think your cloches look great in your spring look.

I also love the metal thingy and I would have bought it also. We don't have to know what everything is, as long as it looks good and interesting. Let us know if you find something out…

  3. I love this arrangement and it is perfect for spring. I need some good ideas for my sofa table…I messed with it off & on all day…still not done. I guess I need to leave it alone for awhile. Your table is very eyecatching!

  4. Oh my goodness! That is whole scene is just over the moon! I am a cloche nut!!! Yours are fab. I cannot believe the prices! Good on you! The iron thingy is fab!

  5. The cloches look wonderful. I love the simplicity of the piece of fruit under each one. I don't have any ideas on the metal piece you purchased but I am so loving the red tole painted bin.

  6. Ditto to Suzanne above. My GW is WAY more expensive than yours, and doesn't have nearly as good loot. I have never seen a cloche there, or anything resembling that rusty thing, which almost looks like a branding iron, w/ the 'brand' missing. Hmmmm….Love your blue plates you have displayed.

  7. So much to see here today! Love all the cloches and how fortunate that you found the exact matching stands, and for that price! I think the whole arrangement looks wonderful.
I have no idea what that thing is, but you are right it sure looks interesting.

  8. Wow! It looks amamzing! I cannot believe you found those treasures for so little money!! The cloches are just gorgeous and I love your dinner plates:) Beautiful job!! ~ Tina x

  9. Oh yes I'm very proud of you for the rusty jewel among your heavenly cloche finds!

What a great haul that day was! Your blue wall plays sooo well with your accessories. Beautifully done!

Just curious… where do you store your 'stock'? You do have extra stock, yes? You just seem to have the coolest things!

  10. Great find at your local GWF .. hit and miss here some times.. yet there are times when I'll come across the cuties chair or bench.

Thanks for the ideas for a brighter spring ahead!!

    with love,

  11. I love those cloches! They are perfect! I am going to have to go shopping with you. I never find any neat items as Goodwill! I am going to have to look around with more diligence. LOL!
Great spring look by the way!
And that rusty thingy is wonderful! But I have no idea what it is.

  12. Good morning, I love your buffet arrangement it's elegant and affordable, and that buffet/breakfront is a beautiful piece of furniture. I'm looking for something just like that to store tablecloths and napkins in. Taking different pieces out of cabinets and drawers and placing them out for everyone (mostly me) to enjoy is something I do often, it's an affordable way for me to change things up and redecorate! Sometimes I even set my dining room table just so I can enjoy my many different plates and glasses picked up at consignment and antique stores. I'd love it if you would stop by my blog if you have a moment!

  13. beeyooteeful!!! seriously, i love it! oddly enough, i have a lot of those same things in my home like orphaned and stuffed in my attic or something-never thought of putting them all together, just never wanted to get rid of them. sounds like today is going to be a decorating experimenting day around here…love those!! (except when they turn into a "let's move all the furniture and re-paint and knock out htis wall here…" hahaha)

  14. Lovin that Toleware Marian! Hey, I'm so excited that you are going to join us in Lancaster next month! I will be getting in touch with you as soon as I have more details! Love your Spring touches!

  15. Wow, that must be a really good Goodwill you have! I laughed so hard when you mentioned your hubby hoped you find out the rusty piece is part of a toilet!!! Hehehehe

  16. nothing even remotely fabulous at our goodwill, salvation army etc ( and I check every week just to make sure), but I will arm wrestle you for that bin…really…or do you want my first born??

  17. There is no way that isn't real fruit!! You have really put together a beautiful arrangement. Those fruit really add that perfect punch of color esp. w/ those blue plate son the wall. And to find the items you did at goodwill, WOWZAS!

  18. Beautiful arrangement! I love how you always seem to score the best bargains! I went to Goodwill last week and was so disappointed…just tons of junk…not even junk with possibilities…believe me, I looked hard! Haha! Thanks for sharing photos of your lovely home with us!

    Blessings, Grace

  19. OK, number one, I am coming down to PA to junk because girl, you got some dynamite things for a song. Number 2, I believe that your rusty, grusty thing is upside down and is some garden thing that fits over a post and holds a pot, sundial, something for outside…I've seen one before. It holds something…oh, my little brain.
Nice work, per usual little mustard seedling!
    You always do good stuff!

  20. I love this whole set up! I love the blue and white especially with the wreath and navy ribbon! Great finds too! I love thrift store treasures! 🙂

  21. Loving your seasonal change. The cloches and pedestals were a great find! Your Gram's wooden fruit look wonderful displayed under them. Simplistic sophistication at its best.

    Deborah

  22. Oh you sure did get some nice things… I love how you put it all together… looks fabulous… I am loving that dresser and you didn't paint it (yet)… lol… looks great just the way it is… thanks for sharing..

    Hugs, Deb

  23. I love your blog. I found a similar "doo-dad" to your "rusty thing". I turned it over, put a round glass tabletop from Pier I on the top and have a lovely table. I don't know what it is either. Someone told me it is from an old heater????
    Sandra

  24. Omg! I am scrolling through your older posts! I see that your mom’s fine china is the same as my mom’s which I now have after she passed recently!
