I bought a small farm table a few months ago to use as a center “island” in my booth at the Chapel Market and to, hopefully, sell.  Well, it was the one piece of furniture we took home with us from Alabama and it’s been hanging out in the studio since then.   You can see it buried a bit in this picture…

Kriste and I talked about it and decided that we should paint the base of the table to make it a bit more eye-catching.  She painted it in MMSMP Lucketts Green without the Bonding Agent, so it could chip and flake away.  I lightly distressed it and finished it with the Antiquing Wax.  I think it will catch some eyes now.

This was one of those times when the Milk Paint just chipped perfectly.  I literally just ran the sand paper over it, with very little pressure, and the paint flaked away.

I now want a kitchen with that hutch, table and chairs.  It just all looks so sweet together!

It’s all getting tagged and taken to Lucketts, though.

I set the table with this beautiful blue & white ironstone set I found last week.  I am sooooo tempted to keep it, but I already have so many dishes that it’s ridiculous.  I need to thin out what I have already, so they are tagged, too.

I finished the wallpaper in the upstairs bath today (the two final rows) and worked on a couple of chairs in the studio.  I tell you what, these chairs are putting up a good fight, though.  One gave me a bump on the bridge of my nose and I have a nice gouge on my palm from another one.

Ah, the perils of DIY.

    1. I have the drop leaf version of this table sitting on my covered patio . . . . With the original green paint. It was in my Mother’s kitchen when I was growing up. Love it.

  1. I LOVE those dishes! I WANT those dishes! If Lucketts was not so far away from South Carolina I would so be there! For those dishes and the green Bergere chairs I have been drooling over for a year. Argh !

  2. That table definitely is an eye catcher now, that green was the perfect addition! Those dishes are darling! Would you ship them to Canada??! I love blue and white and have never found anything quite as darling as those.

  3. Amazing! Perfect amount of chippy, and just love that color with the wood tone, and the antiquing wax. And I’m drooling over that hutch. I don’t have a wall space big enough for it, but it’s amazing!

  4. This table is awesome and I really love the color choice you made with the table (I love green away). I am like you, I think I would want to keep them too. I think it is so hard to let go a great piece of furniture that you have nursed back to health and appearance. Once again you have done a great job.

  5. The plates that you have on the table – they are called Provence Blue. I collect them. Are you selling them and if so, what do you have and how much.

  6. I think I would sort through the dishes you already have to make room for these little beauties! They are so YOU!!! I’m not a lover of blue but would even like to have these myself.

  7. Love the combo! The color and chippy is spot on! That hutch is perfect too!

  8. Oh, that table is darling, Marian! Green base really brought it to life. Do you have enough space in your Lucketts booth to set your “kitchen” up the way you did in your studio? If so, I think that would bring a lot of customers to your booth straight from the door.

The ironstone dishes are wonderful, too! If I could incorporate blue into my kitchen and dinnerware scheme, I would be begging you to sell them through mail order. You are lucky anything except green or possibly antique red would clash with my kitchen color scheme. 🙂

  9. I don’t usually comment on things…I am just a curious browser and a quiet one. But today I have to comment….I LOVE what you have done to the table. The green is just perfect with the blues and I just love the way they play off of each other. Good job. I am an artist so am always curious about what you are doing and I pick up ideas here and there to use in my own home. Thank you very much for all your hard work and influences.

  10. Gday! from sunny West Australia… I enjoy your site so much & I love the table – how did you do the top – was it just stained?

  11. I think those blue and white dishes you found are so pretty! I’ve never seen that pattern before.

  12. The table looks absolutely authentic and great with the Lucketts Green on the legs! I want a dining room with it and the chairs and hutch, too! You two ladies have such great eyes for design.

I can relate to the desire to keep those beautiful dishes. I love vintage dishes and I have too many also, but I’m always wanting to add more. There’s always another design or color that I just can’t resist. What an affliction to have, right?

  13. Don’t get me wrong, I love Chip and Joanna from HGTV, but I still love your style so much more! I am starting to see a lot of items in the homes they re-do that are sold all over on home décor sites, but yours are true antiques/collectibles and so unique. I love the uniqueness of true vintage!! Keep up the wonderful posts-I so enjoy them!! 🙂
