I’ve been having a few technical difficulties this evening, so I posted some of these pictures and this information on Facebook and Twitter already.  It’s getting late and I know 5:15 am is going to come very quickly, so I’m going to keep this brief.

Today was about all of the last minute details like making “sold” tags.  It’s one of those things that won’t make me any money and some people might not care about, but I think it just looks nice to have cute sold tags.

So, if you see a craft tag tied on with a red and white string on a piece, you know it’s sold.  (I’m selling some of this string tomorrow, too.)

Speaking of sold, here’s a look at the custom sign I made for Jami of Freckled Laundry.   She requested a lavender sign and this is what I came up with.

See?  Craft tag on a red & white string = sold.

If you’re coming tomorrow and want to buy a t-shirt, I must apologize in advance if I don’t have the size you need.  I went to pick up my reorder yesterday and the style of shirt was sold out!  Bummer!  So, I only have t-shirts in limited sizes.  I have ordered a different brand, though, and will be selling them online soon.

Guess what piece of “MMS signature” furniture ended up with a tag on it today?

GASP!  Yep.  I know.  A moment of silence.

Someone mentioned hoping for one like it and I decided I was okay with selling the original.  I’ve loved it for a few years and have photographed it to death and it’s a good time to let it go to a new home where someone else can enjoy it.  I know.  I can almost hear the “Noooooooooooo”‘s from here!  I still love it, but I feel like I can make something similar.

Yesterday, I picked up a pretty walnut harvest table and these two beauties to bring to the fair…

In addition, Mini Mustard Seed (Remember her?  She’s all grown up with a baby now), managed to make one paper wreath out of a vintage dictionary  for me to bring.

…and I just got in a last minute shipment of the famous French soap that I’ve always loved.  I had a block for years (just because I love the look of them) and it finally got gross and I had to pitch it.  I did keep a few for myself.  No soap photographs like this one.  (Is it sad that I look at things in terms of how photogenic they are?)

Yep.  Photogenic soap.

…and I made one last sign today…

Does anyone know which miniseries inspired me to make this sign?

I don’t even know how to properly punctuate some of the sentences in this post, but I’m just writing the way I would say it, so that’s what you get.  My nickname has never been “Marian Madame Grammarian” and I’m getting a little loopy, so cut me some slack.    🙂

Everyone pray for a spot of sunshine over Leesburg, Virginia tomorrow!  I’ll let you know how it goes…

I’m sure others will be doing this as well, but I know Breida with a B will be blogging, tweeting and social-media-ing it up about the fair tomorrow and Sunday if you want to follow along.

OH!  And the person traveling the furthest is Anna Ruth from Florida with 1030 miles on the road to get to Lucketts.  I can’t wait to meet you tomorrow.  I hope you’re bringing some sunshine from the “Sunshine State”.  You know, it was almost always raining when I drove into Florida and saw that sign.  I think there is a permanent rain cloud there.  Please don’t bring that along.

I told you.  Loopy.

Florida? Wow! I need to get some rest too but I’m a little wound up now. :). Too excited and worried ill forget something important. Need to shut off my brain and get to bed. I hope I can get a few minutes outside my booth to say a quick “hi”. Looking forward to tomorrow!!! Hope you have a good nights rest!! You’ll be a busy girl tomorrow! – Pauline

    10. Vicki

Best of luck tomorrow! Plan on coming down one of these years! Take the time to enjoy…

    11. kim

WOW – I am totally head over heels in LOVE with these signs!!! Do you ever offer tutorials on how to make these???

      • Amy from NY

I second that, Kim! I would love to see that tutorial. I have the desire for craft things, but my brain doesn’t allow that much creativity. I can follow directions, no problem. I hope your sale tomorrow is wonderful as well as profitable. Fingers crossed for fantastic weather. Looking forward to reading the reviews. Hope to talk my husband into making the drive there someday!!

    12. Katy

Hmmmm….I sort of like you loopy and paraphrasing “The Music Man”.
I wish I could buy the infamous chair and farm table…darn my highway phobia. Best of luck tomorrow, although you cleary don’t need it. Your stuff is amazing!

    13. Kimberly

I hope I’m right and the “Jones & Co. Brush & Basket Makers” sign is from the BBC’s version of Elizabeth Gaskell’s Victorian-era novel, “North & South,” starring none other than the amazing and lovely Richard Armitage. Am I right?

Cannot believe you are selling your grain sack chair! It’s iconic for you. Wish I was there, I’d bring it home and take real good care of it for you! Those two petit point (?) chairs are gorgeous, I’d also nab those real fast! One of these days I’ll have to plan a trip all the way out from Southern California, after all, people come from further away, don’t they?

Good luck, I know you will do well!

      • Kate

I’m in SoCal! Let’s go together 😉 One day I will make it out!

      • Miss Mustard Seed

Yep! You are right. I spotted that sign in the background on North & South.

    14. Kathryn

so if Kimberly comes from SoCcal,,,I’ll join her (as I live in SoCal also). And you must tell us where we may order French soaps also. M-M-M. good luck and hopefully the weather holds.

      • Dee

Another SoCal admirer here……we could have a convoy to Lucketts and MMS! If Marian doesn’t see you question do a Google search for soap. I find the castile version at a farmers market, vendor sells olive oil and the imported soap. If you are in San Diego, go to the LaMesa farmer’s market on Friday afternoon.

    15. Mimi

Sending all my positive thoughts your way…I’m hoping for a beautiful day for you Marian. I think most of us would just love that homemade sold tag. Even your small details make me smile

    16. Jo

I think next year if there are a few women from Minnesota who want to go – Let’s get together for a roadtrip!!!

      • frankie angelo

I’m originally from Mn but now in Central Coast CA I would love to go to this show.

Is it once a year. YOu have such beautiful things.

My husband and I and a friend have a booth in a place called Lompoc, CA “Sweet Repeats” 104 vendors, we have so much fun with the furniture and various items. We are always looking for good ideas.

Hope your day is wonderful and successful

    17. Vickie

Your fabulous merchandise is not going to last long! I’m in love with the lavender sign and the chairs. Gorgeous!

    18. Suzy Wilkinson

I’m so sad I will not be able to make it to Lucketts this year 🙁 What do you do with what you do not sell?? I live in Chambersburg and would love to see what you have left after the weekend. Hope Lucketts is a great success for you !

    19. Denise T

I will come to Lucketts tomorrow (Sunday). Hope to see you tomorrow. It is raining in Haymarket. Wondering if it rains in Leesburg. It looks like you are selling very well. Hope there is a roll of grainsack available until tomorrow.

    20. bethsbirds

Is that sign in Downton Abbey?? Ive actually see many of the things in MY house on that show!! I watch sessions over and over, by know I know then by heart, so Im not watching the actors, Im looking at the things hanging on the walls, and on the tables. HEY, I have one of those, Makes me feel like Im doing something right!

    21. Jayne

Everything is lovely! The signs are amazing I wish I could go!

    22. Ter'e

No parle vous frechasi………haha. Do I assume that Lavendar in French is spelled the way you spelled it? I was having a big OMG and a laugh, all at the same time.
Shoot, now I can’t spell it.

    23. Pam

So jealous wish it was closer. Looks gorgeous! You use that soap and enjoy it! It’s great soap 🙂

    24. Katie Justiss

Lovely! Quick question… I’ve had a few people ask me to give them quotes on making hand painted signs today. (Love your signs in your post, btw!) One is for a craft storefront that will be 3 feet by 6 feet with the logo and the store name. Another one is for a guy that wants 29 signs with just typography about 6 inches by 2 feet. They both have all the supplies. The craft store is like 20 minutes away from me. What would you charge?

      • Katie Justiss

…or does anyone else here have any idea what to charge for commissioned hand-painted signs?

    25. Christy@Confessions of a Serial Do -it-Yourselfer

I got to see your beautiful chair sell today! I doubt you’ll have much to sell tomorrow:)

    26. Sue O'Mullan

Best of Luck! I hope you are sold out soon that you can enjoy some of Luckett’s for yourself. Your items are exquisite! Will hope for sunny skies!!!!!

    27. Mary

OH!! How I wish I could be there or even had a Lucketts – look alike here in Scotland. Have a ball and I will keep my fingers crossed the weather is just perfect. How did you make the signs? They are FAB ! All the best and good luck. Mary x

    28. Tara Trevey

Love it all!!! How can we BUY A MMS T-SHIRT?!?!?! I MUST have one!!! Please email me back!!

    29. Marty Covert

As I said, I should have gotten the other needlepoint chair. Was just dumb on my part.
Should you ever decide to give it up just put sold on it and contact me. I know it has a good home and know that the blue chest you ALMOST didn’t bring is loved and also has a good home. Lovely to meet you.

    30. Kathie Zipf

My friend Maureen and I drove 2 hrs. down to Lucketts yesterday, and LOVED being at the market all day. We shopped until we dropped, and were at your booth several times, hoping to say hi and give you a hug. You were so busy, we didn’t get a chance to greet you in person this time…but I wanted to let you know…we’ll just try to be at another event in the future. I love your book, and am truly inspired by your projects and creativity. Thanks for all your hard work….I can’t wait to try making slipcovers this summer….your “can do” attitude has encouraged me to just take the leap and start with a small project. I’ve been sewing the quilting for many years…and the tutorial online is very helpful. Keep up the great work! I am ordering a Tshirt as soon as they become available!!!!

    31. Warren

Whoever got that “Jones & Co. Brush” sign has more of an heirloom than they might think. The sign is painted on the top of a table that my family used for years. I still remember it brand new for our Thanksgiving day feast in 1961 in Muskogee Oklahoma. But times change and things get new purposes. So enjoy, whoever has the “Brush” sign!

    32. Alicia

I love your work and you are inspiring but am I the only one that winces in pain when I read the words “made a wreath out of a vintage dictionary”? I’m literally drawing up in distress over here. I’m not totally against using books for crafts…I’ve done it myself…but not with VINTAGE DICTIONARIES! Sorry, I had to get that out 🙂

    33. can t get a girlfriend
