It was a packed day. I started cleaning as I was getting ready for the day. I’m sure I’m not the only super-multi-tasker who tries to clean the sink while I’m drying my hair. I have a lot of due dates approaching and the boys have a few days off school, so I needed to squeeze in a lot in the time I had. In addition to cleaning the house a bit, I filmed two more segments for the Building a Creatively Made Business 2.0 series, went with Jeff to cut down a Christmas tree (which required some explanation, since it’s April), decorated said Christmas tree three different ways and finished two more of my HGTV.com projects.
One of the tutorials we worked on today shows how to make a bread board out of an old piece of wood. (We made the back one on the right.)
You would not believe how the board we used looked before we made two breadboards out of it. It was a crusty, dry and dirty old board, but looked amazing once we cut it, sanded it down and finished it with some beeswax, so it’s pretty and food safe.
And I finished and photographed a pair of mittens I embellished…

I also unpacked the finds I bought on my shopping trip yesterday…

I love your pig board. I had one that I had found while out treasure hunting years ago with my Dad. Somewhere along the way it got lost. It is one of those few things I wish I still had. You have inspired me to make my own.
OK Marion, I could just about cry every time I see your ironstone finds. I am from Ottawa, Canada and finding ironstone here is like finding a needle in a hay stack. One of my summer vacations this year is going to be to the US…..to find me some ironstone. Love your work.
Found a great deal on a band saw at an estate sale yesterday- think the hubs first project will be a couple cutting boards. Thanks for the inspiration.

I had to laugh when I saw your pig cutting board. My mother-in-law has one just like it, and when I asked where she got it, turned out that my husband made it for her in shop class when he was in school. I bet there are a few of these pigs out there! They have a fantastic folk art quality to them for sure.
I bought my first piece of ironstone this week- a nice little pitcher. This is completely your doing Marian! Thank you for inspiring me to see the beauty in simple, graceful lines. If we end up bidding against each other on ebay, you have only yourself to blame! ;0)

I hope to see you at Lucket’s one of these years…Being from the PNW, I can understand the frustration of a ‘rainy’ event, so I hope ‘blue skies’ are ahead this year…I know you are very busy, but I’m writing to ask a favor…How rude, huh?…I would really love to see a lot of before shots of your booth, before all your crazed patrons buy the goods!…Even a cheesy phone video would make me happy, although I know that’s not your style…Hope it’s an awesome ‘show’!
