Another day of making ornaments has come and gone. My entire house is dusted in glitter and littered with shreds of paper. Sigh. So, since I’m stuck in monotony at the moment, I thought I would share two other new pieces of furniture I worked on last week and dropped off at Lucketts.
This armoire had been in my office for a couple of years, but it was replaced in my recent makeover.
I couldn’t just let a good vintage armoire go to waste, so I gave it a new life. I decided to paint the entire piece in black chalkboard paint. I think it could work in a kid’s room, kitchen, craft room, play room, family room…lots of options.
The other piece, which actually already sold, is this princess dresser.
It wasn’t bad, but the paint finish was very tired, so I stripped the top and painted the base in ASCP Versailles. It’s a pretty yellowish-green and worked well over the white.
I also painted and sold the small side table next to the metal chair.
Tomorrow will involve more ornament making and some shopping…just to change things up a bit.
Oh! And the winner of John Millen Hardware’s Milk Paint and Wax Giveaway is…
Congrats!!

Love the armoire! Cute idea!
Great idea for the armoire. It would look great in an unfitted kitchen. I can see why the other pieces sold. I like that color over the white.
Love your work! I have been following you for months. You are the one that inspired me to try to redo furniture. You are brillant and I hope one day that my blog will be half as successful as yours. I'll keep following.

Very cool idea to paint that whole Armoire in chalk board paint. I love the drawing on it. You have such wonderful pieces, and always give me inspiration to try new things….thanks 🙂
Rachel~
Do you have a preferred brand of chalkboard paint? I used chalkboard paint on the doors of my storage cabinet at school. It is great for the kids to practice handwriting or to just have fun drawing and creating! Thanks for the inspiration!
i am swooning over that chalkboard armoire. totally awesome. 😉
Love the chalkboard armoire. I did a mid-century modern dresser in chalkboard paint that turned out so cute. Sold it to a couple for their little boy's room. We had fun playing with it before they picked it up.
Love the chalkboard armoire. What a fabulous idea. The princess dresser is lovely too!
Great idea with the chalkboard paint on the armoire. That would be fun for a kid's room. Excpet for when they hit the "naughty word" stage!;>)
Just so you know- You will NEVER get all the glitter cleaned up….I'm still finding it from Christmas last year! xo Diana
Awesome idea using chalkboard paint for that piece…looks GREAT!!!
Blessings,
Linda
I love the idea of the chalkboard armoire in a kitchen as pantry storage – so many possibilites to use it as a menu board or shopping list. Does your new armoire give you more storage space?
Sweet! I saw a fabulous dresser in need of some love today and thought of you.

The princess dresser turned out awesome! I just love your stuff!
Btw, I had to order a load of the milk paint and the wax…!! 🙂 It's great that they ship overseas too. We just don't have stuff like that here. : /
Ha! Last year as I was knee deep in glitter, I got the bright idea to vacuum the glitter off my face….
Warning..DO NOT TRY THIS! Mr. Secret Agent came home and wanted to know who gave me the hickey on my cheek

I don't think you could have chosen a more perfect piece to do chalk painting to! The Princess dresser is darling, as is your entire room at Luckett's.
The princess dresser is gorgeous!
p.s. You look like Alison Krauss! 🙂
Love the idea of painting the armoire with chalkboard paint. It's like a piece of furniture and inspiration board in one. Perfect for a work area that needs extra storage but is tight on space.
I'd love to buy that vintage scale in the 6th photo. Is it for sale? Would you ship it to Ohio? And how much is it? My eamil is dkphotographic (at) gmail dot com Thanks!!!! And I love the chalkboard armoire!!!
Oh I totally would have snatched up that cute princess dresser!
Love your chalk illustration, and quote! Thank you for sharing!

#3.) your room looks fantastic!!!!!
love the armoire! what a great idea. my grandkids wanted to know if I would paint my kitchen cabs in chalkboard paint 🙂 aren't they so funny? I gave in and gave them one cabinet door.
You give me faith that one day I will leave "Chalk Paint He'll"!
Brilliant idea to paint the armoire with chalkboard paint. Kids would love it. Heck, I'd love it!
See? Even in the small things you inspire us! We've all been there…greasy chin and all….I'm getting ready for my semi-annual Porch sale where I sell all this stuff I do and last night i ate two (that's two) plates of mac and cheese….oh me oh my…today's a new day! I love EVERYTHING you do! Your body needs fuel….right?
I just wanted to say thank you!! I am a very busy marketing professional and spend my days running at fever pitch. Your blog provides me a break that always leaves me refreshed and inspired.
Oh Miss Mustard Seed – I wanted the WUSLU Malta Lantern (9/25) so bad. I wanted to put this on my front porch. Just no extra money this month and I also LOVE the Lrg Vintage Utility/Laundry Cart today and again, just no extra funds. I will say you inspired me to begin painting and I bought my first bag of "slate" milk paint. Next I will find your tutorial and go from there. Your taste is just exquisite!!!! Thank you both for the offer/contest….fingers crossed and prayers prayed!!!
I love (and purchased) the Romantic French Ribbon Clock. I thought for sure it would go unnoticed by my husband, but he loved it too! WUSLU is my kind of place! Thanks MMMS!

without even going to WUSLU, my favorite is the bamboo mat like you have. I love, love it! But I looked again, and it is hard to pick one because I want everything they have. I will pick the 1910 dough bowl. It reminds me of one my grandmother had, and no one knows what happened to it. I love your blog and have bought my first can of ASCP. Now to decide what to paint first.

The armoire is fabulous. Your artwork and quote on it is wonderful, too!!!
