I’m not into cars at all.  I drive an old van with over 230,000 miles on it and I’m content.  I know exactly how many pieces of furniture I can wedge into it.   But, if money weren’t an object, and I wanted to spend it on a car that was purely for fun, I would totally get an antique car, probably from the 1940s.  I love the rounded fenders and classic lines and I would enjoy cruising around in one immensely.  I doubt I’m ever going to have an antique car, but I got the next closest thing – an antique blue and white pedal car.

Was this little guy made for me or what?!  A blue and white antique toy pedal car.  Come on, people.  It even has an
“M” on the hubcaps!

I’ve always liked antique pedal cars, but they are usually pretty pricey, even in this condition.  Most that I’ve spotted are around $250-300, which is a lot for something that doesn’t really have a function.  I ended up buying this gorgeous antique blue and white pedal car for $95 still a splurge, but my heart was all a-flutter and I couldn’t pass it up.

Look at the little airplane hood ornament…

…and the curved shape of the windshield!

I wish my hips and legs would fit in it, so I could take it for a spin.

I’ll just have to be content with using this antique blue and white pedal car as a photo prop.  This bad boy will definitely make an appearance under the Christmas tree this year…

My mom took me and the boys to see a local production of Mary Poppins tonight, which was so fun.  My degree is in musical theatre and I grew up on the stage, so it does my heart good to see my boys enjoying something that was such a big part of my childhood.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

This was just meant to be….the colors and the “M’s” on the hubcaps are perfect! This is adorable and I can’t wait to see it used in future photo shoots. Congratulations on a great find.

    3. Design Chic

I couldn’t love it more and the color is adorable! You knew when the wheels had “M” it had to be yours!! Happy weekend ~

No Design Ramblings with Karianne? Really? I’ve been psyched all week. Oh well. I’ll be patient.

Does the car look cool with your scooter? It might be a cool blue tone on tone thing.

And I loved your hearing your thoughts on reader feedback. It was just sound and healthy.

      Have great weekend,

      HI Marion,

What a perfect find….the M on the wheels would have made it a absolute purchase for me, it was meant to be….cannot wait to see it in photos!

I’ve never fancied pedal-cars, nor had I ever seen more than one or two, until I visited a car repair shop here in our small town. There, on shelves circling the waiting room, were more vintage pedal-cars than I could even imagine: Pedal-car “woodie” station wagons, pedal-car convertibles, pedal-cars towing miniature boat trailers complete with boats, pedal-cars towing tiny metal-skinned Airstream travel trailers, etc. Obviously the guy is a connoisseur and has a small fortune invested in these hugely collectible little vehicles. I think old children’s toys are a great addition to decorating projects, and that everyone will enjoy this one.

I would love an old pickup truck. Maybe a ford or Chevy from the 50s and painted turquoise.

Great to see you last week at Haven.

    8. Janice

OMG! I am in love. If you ever get tired of it – me first, me first. The “M” stands for “mine”. I have never seen one so dang cute. You lucky girl!!!!!

      • Quandie

LOL … the “M” stands for mine … love it!

    9. Judith Elkins

Marion – you can just feel the love for this peddle car in your photos! Thank you for sharing and congrats on a beautiful find.

    10. Cheryl

      Marion,
Just perfect! It really was good buy!
So glad the boys also enjoy theater! My grandson does also.

What a treasure. Enjoy. I will enjoy seeing it in your photo shoots.

    13. Winnie

I am SO jealous – would have bought that in a heartbeat!! That ” M”could easily be a “W”, couldn’t it?!?!?!? If you ever decide you just ran out of space, you have my email!!!!

    14. Gail Nadeau

      I absolutely love it!!!

    15. Lori Merrill

Love it! You are an inspiration! You have a great weekend as well! Lori

    16. Donna C.

      Darling! Great find!

    17. Terri

      Ab-so-lute-ly LOVE it! So cute!

    18. Suzanne

It’s adorable! Totally worth the splurge.

    19. Susan

Yes, it is so you! But I think it could be so me too. I have just about all blue and white also. Blue has always been my color. My last name starts with”W” so I think that is a W on the wheel?

    20. Lisa

I think you should put a huge, lush pot of flowers in it and put it out on your deck for the summer. It would be adorable.

    21. Cindy in Oklahoma

I would be so tempted to put it on top of your dining room cabinet/hutch… or on top of anything! Love it….

    22. Cheryl

Adore the car! Saw Mary Poppins on Broafway…loved it!!

    23. Teresa

What a little cutie! I believe its a vintage Murray pedal car hence the “M” on the hubcaps and probably from the 50’s. I noticed it even had its own little hood ornament just like regular cars did back in those days.

I cant wait to see this little cutie make its debut under your tree this year. I don’t know much about vintage pedal cars but restored they can fetch some big bucks. I love it just the way it is though!

    24. Naomi S.

This little car is DARLING! I think these peddle cars were SO much better for little ones than the battery-powered ones they sell today. They should be using those little legs to strengthen them and to learn how to peddle in order to be able to ride their tricycles and bikes later.

I don’t mind that yours is scuffed up a bit. Shows that it’s been well-loved. And will be in your possession, too. Your scored a great little item!

    25. Cyndia

Oh, wow! What a great find! I’m on the lookout for something similar myself. In the meantime, I have a real-sized 1952 Chevy pickup, which my hubby is restoring, and when it’s done, will be used for hauling furniture all over the place.

    26. Deb Landy

Your photography is just so beautiful. I see thing after you mention them that at first I didn’t even notice. Thanks for sharing your skill.

    27. MaryLisa Noyes

      Love the airplane hood ornament!

    28. April

OH. MY. GOODNESS. This could not be any more you! I love it & am a little jealous! 🙂

    29. Susan

That is DARLING!!!! Have been looking for a pedal car myself for under the tree. Found an old sled last year that did the trick until I find the pedal car! (Sleds are not that common along the gulf coast of Texas) 🙂

      Have fun!

    30. Teresa C.

Love your convertible and it’s chippy goodness!

    31. B Folk

I am so with you about being able to fit inside the peddle car! I may be old on the outside, but I’m young on the inside. Such an adorable find.

    32. B Folk

Oops, meant “pedal” car (I have an eye for “typos”, it’s a sickness).
