Furniture Feature Friday – Favorites & a Link Party

Oh, girls!  I wish I could give big hugs to all of you for the sweet comments you left in reply to my big announcement.  I haven’t read through all of them yet, but I assure you I will.  They are such an encouragement to me as I stand on the edge of this new, scary journey.  I’ll expand on it more in another post, but I want you to know that your comments (on some of my posts in particular) have a lot to do with why I’m getting published.  So, thank you.  Just so you know what to expect, I will still post on my blog daily and am trying to rework things for next year so I can be more purposeful about posting tutorials, how-to series and encouragement.  I hope my blog will get better and better. And, while I’m scaling back my space at Lucketts for a while, I still plan on being a vendor at the May fair and hopefully picking things back up when the book is under control.  More to come on all of this, but let’s get to FFF and my favorites from two weeks ago.

I am going to confess it right now…I do not like waterfall furniture.  It’s just not my thing.  I don’t like the lines of it or the Bakelite hardware it normally comes with.  That said, Anneke from RustiChic has shown me that I am a fool.  She took this waterfall dresser and transformed it by painting a blue & white union jack on the front.  The graphic design masks some of the awkwardness of the waterfall style.  It’s just perfect.  I love, love this piece.  Like, “I would totally buy this” kind of love.  Thanks, Anneke, for broadening my horizons.

The Rooster from The Rooster & the Hen gave this cast-off dresser mirror a new look with pallet wood.  What can’t people do with pallet wood?  I mean, really.  It looks chic and rustic all at the same time.  This is a great idea for a tight budget.

Beth from Sunshine on the Inside used a plan from Ana White and made her own factory cart.  I think this is brilliant.  Those things can be super expensive and difficult to find, so making your own is a great way to get what you want.  Beth even added some sweet carvings into to wood for a personal touch.  Just think of all of the cool options with typography stencils or chipped paint treatments…

Enjoy the party!

Here are the rules for our furniture get-together…

1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.

2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.

3.) This party will close Saturday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF.

  1. Thank you for hosting. I am linking up a table that you gave me advice via email on a while back (this summer). We ended up getting rid of the chairs and using the ASCP on the table and getting new chairs. We are thankful for your great advice! We really like how it turned out and the chalk paint is holding up very nicely. Kristine

  2. I didn’t get a chance to say it earlier, but congrats on the book deal! I thought of you today as I took another step forward in my little corner of the world. I am now a booth vendor. 🙂 Scary and exciting. I remembered your story of starting out and how everything has come to where it is now.
Thanks for hosting. Love the union jack too.

  3. Oh my goodness!!! Thank you, thank you for the feature! Wow. There are SO many great links EVERY week, so it is special to me, and especially on such an “undesirable” piece of furniture. I don’t like waterfall furniture either (like at.all), but ended up getting that piece my my sweet mother-in-law! It means a lot to say you’d even buy it! 🙂 And I love your tutorials, how-to’s, etc.!!!

  4. OMG, congrats on the book, I just read your post today, how exciting! I can’t wait to see it!

I understand the waterfall furniture aversion, I really truly hate it, as well as pretty much anything art deco. And don’t get me started on mid-century modern. But I guess you can improve just about anything if you really put some effort into it. I’ll continue to take the easy route by starting with pretty furniture!

    Have a nice weekend!

  5. Congratulations on the book deal! It has been so fun to follow and watch how the Lord has done great things in your life! He is awesome and has blessed you with some incredible talent! Thanks for hosting! Christie at Three Pixie Lane

  6. I am linking up here for the first time. I’m so excited to be sharing my son’s new bed. Thanks for hosting.

  7. Isn’t it fun to see where God leads you? I am so excited for your book deal. You have been such a huge inspiration to me. You should earn some income for your knowledge. I’m a nurse & “empty nester” whom loves spending hours at flea markets & antique malls just looking for that perfect piece of furniture, pulls, windows, frames etc. I’m learning to paint furniture, slip cover & re-use with the help of about 80% of your tutorials, posts and the posting of others work. I’m working on decorating my home. Maybe when I’m done I will be courageous enough to take the next step as you and so many others have. You go girl!!!

  8. This is so fun! I’m fairly new to blogs and even newer to fixing up furniture. I’m hoping to pick up my first piece this weekend and I can’t wait, you’re tutorials and posts will be such a God-send! Hoping to one day figure out what a permalink is and participate in a link party 🙂 Thanks!

      1. Yes, they’re back. For a little while this morning they seemed to disappear. Glad they’re all back so I can do some visiting.
        Thank you,
        Ruth

  9. Congrats on the book Marian!! You have been blessed with so much creativity and we are all much better off because of your talents!! Love coming to your blog everyday and seein’ what you’re up to!! Cant wait to see what else the Lord has in store for you!

  10. Well better late than never! Thanks for hosting! I’m gonna be here ALL night going thru links and your site…..I had decided to start hosting local workshops and hope to become a ASCP stockist even though I don’t have a store front YET!

Might be over my head but I think it will be a blast…thank you so much for all your inspiration!

  11. Thank you so very much for the feature Marian! I’m beyond excited and completely honored! And congrats on the upcoming book…I can’t wait to get my hands on it:)!
