I’ve found some beautiful things lately and I was inspired today to put them together for a little show-and-tell post on the blog.

First off, the cabinet…

It was a craigslist gem and I just might be keeping it!  It’s a really special piece with that wavy glass…

…and the old hardware and paint.  It’s also a petite size, so it would be great in a hallway or bathroom.

I also got in a shipment of European linens.  In addition to a bunch of hemp sheets, I got some beautiful linen tea towels with blue stitching and monograms.

I really want to keep them all and just stack them in a cabinet, but I’m going to sell almost all of them.  (I will take pictures of the cross-stitching patterns to share first, because there are some great ones!)

I also have some rolls of blue windowpane toweling as well…

When shopping last week, I bought an old jar…

…a beautiful set of antique plates…

…some ironstone and Bakelite flatware…

 …and two amazing ironstone pitchers.

The handle on this one is just gorgeous…

I’ll be listing at least the hemp sheets in the online shop on Thursday.   The rest will most likely be listed next week.

My 4 year old son had a few dollars to spend today and when I asked him what he would like to purchase in an antique shop we visited this morning he said: “One ironstone for you”. That melted my heart!
We were not able to find beautiful ironstone pitchers like yours, but we left with a nice rolling pin.

Clearly you are raising a thoughtful son!

I went antique shopping with my sisters and aunt today and we all found wonderful treasures! I brought home some baskets, old books, glass bottles and a small yelloware bowl. I love sharing family time with antique finds!

I hit the jackpot with four boxes of mason jars (old ones and even one blue one!) last weekend – had so much fun cleaning them up and counting them – there were 74 jars! And an adorable embroidered red and white toaster cover with a dancing anthropomorphic ear of corn 🙂

I found a jar with lid that was meant to hold a can of condensed milk on the table. It has a hole in the bottom to help remove the can when empty.
I had to do some research to figure out what it was. Fascinating.

That cabinet is amazing! Great find! I recently found a very unusual shaped chippy white wicker chair with an upholstered seat. I’m going to reupholster the seat with some European grain sack material!

You do find the coolest stuff!!! <3

I found a pattern of blue transferware that I have never seen before called Sunbeam by F Winkle and Co. It’s beautiful with an image of a cottage framed by a large sunflower and ivy. And with a name like Sunbeam by Winkle & Co it was irresistible not to purchase.

Have you ever seen that pattern?

Last week via Craigslist I found a similarly scaled cabinet with diamond-shaped leaded glass at the upper section of each glass-front door. It’s 40s-era-ish, I think. Very well constructed but wood isn’t beautiful or beautifiable so I think’s it’s gonna get a milk-paint treatment inside and out in MMS Farmhouse White.

Wonderful. finds….that white cabinet really is screaming to get up off that floor with a set of great big casters. It wants to roll around town!

      Cheers!

Marian, My best find last week was black dressform/mannequin with a hoop skirt and as a bonus it’s on wheels. The black covering is falling off but has painted paper mache underneath. I also found that ironstone pitcher under a sea of milkglass at a flea market! I washed and boxed up 45 blue ball jars and 20 vintage white tablecloths for my daughter’s wedding. Love what you do!!

    13. Danielle

Oh, wow! I love it all. xx

    14. Amy

Great finds! I would keep the cabinet, too! :0)

I found an old water pitcher marked silver plate on the price tag for $11 at an antique mall. On closer inspection I saw a sterling maker’s mark and researched it on line — a family business in Evanston, Illinois. There was also an inscription almost lost in the tarnish noting the pitcher was a gift from one country club to another in July 1916. What a treasure! That’s why I love antiquing. So many great finds still out there.

The petite white cabinet IS a keeper Marian! I’d love to have that gorgeous ironstone pudding mold in my home! 🙂

You/your Team did an excellent job packing up my adorable “White Cast Iron Sheep Bank” and lovely “Medium Square Ironstone Serving Dish!” Thank you for sharing some of your fabulous finds with those of us who can’t come to you/your shows!

Great find on the cabinet. I found an unusual piece at a barn sale. Three square drawers with glass fronts and hardware like on your cabinet. Perplexes me what it was built for but I’m storing my potatoes, onions and such in it. It refinished nicely in ironstone then linen, distressed. I’m happy with it. Thank you for the inspiration you share Marion.?

Awesome finds!! I found and old rocking horse today at GW. Looks handmade. Going to paint it!!

    19. Gail

Well, I didn’t find my find at a sale or an antique store, rather in an alley waiting for the “scrap wood” man. A lovely to me buffet…ok the door was off the hinges, the veneer on the top is a little chipped…but the legs, ah the legs! After double checking that this truly was an abandoned piece, Jimmy Buffet came home with me for some well deserved TLC. He now sports a beautiful black milk paint finish with his doors left natural in a hemp oil finish. Oh and just little bit of aging dust on those gorgeous legs.

I found a large willow egg or gathering basket a couple of weeks ago but didn’t buy it… that nagging feeling that I should have just wouldn’t go away so I went back this week and it was still there! Now it’s here…. yes!

After remodeling the kitchen, I needed barstools. At least 4. I knew what I wanted, had an image in my head. I found one. One industrial, rusty, all metal with a backrest. Perfect. Just what I had in my mind. So one down, 3 to go. While heading home from visiting my Grandbaby, I found an antique shop I’d never noticed before. What was sitting outside? An old rusty, metal, industrial barstool that was almost an exact copy of the one I already had. I was thrilled and it was a steal at $28.00. I can picture these stools sitting at some comptrollers desk in a warehouse somewhere back in the 40’s. Now I only need 2 more. They are out there, waiting for me. BTW, I want those blue and white plates. I collect those.

Your craigslist is waaaaay better than mine! Love your haul!

    23. Donna

Wow! love that little cabinet, I don’t blame you for keeping it. And that ironstone mold, I need/want it!!! Will look forward to when you list…got my soap yesterday!
