simple spring

This might come as a total shock, but I don’t usually decorate for the seasons. I decorate for Christmas, I’ll put out a few pumpkins during the fall, but otherwise I keep things pretty neutral seasonally. I would rather makeover a dresser than make a wreath for the front door.   I decided, though, I would take a little time this morning to put a few touches of spring in my living and dining room.

I kept it very, very simple.  I just added some green pots filled with moss with a few eggs tucked into moss on the side and then drew up a Longfellow quote about spring on the chalkboard.

I know the letters are a little wonky, but I’m at peace with it.

In the center of the dining table, I put a large column base and arranged an ironstone tureen filled with moss, some books with a papier mache bunny and a small bowl with hand painted vintage eggs on it.

In the living room, I just filled my dough bowl with some moss.  I told you.  Super simple.

In the foyer, I filled an ironstone bowl with vintage papier mache eggs and a little bit of moss.

I rounded out the arrangement with some books and a clay bunny.  I’m not usually into figurines, but I thought this guy was cute.

… and it looks like he’s holding his paw up asking you to “pound it.”

All of the vintage eggs and the clay bunny were from my grandparent’s attic, so I just worked with what I already had.  It just goes to show that decorating for the seasons doesn’t have to be a fuss.

four things | seventy seven

This week started with the loss of power from a storm.  It wasn’t really the storm that knocked out the power, but the wall of wind that came right before the rain.  It took out trees, limbs, power poles, and made a general mess of our yard and pool.  Jeff
