About a year and a half ago, I worked on organizing our linen closets. I had just dumped everything in them when we moved in, and they were consistently a mess. I did a pretty good job at the time of thinning things out and getting the closets to a place where they felt organized and functional. For the sheet sets, which are always a challenge when it comes to having a tidy linen closet, I folded the flat and fitted sheets together and stored each set in a pillowcase with a label pinned on.

I knew pulling sheet sets out and putting them away would be a pain, but I tried it. Yeah, it was a pain, and while it looked okay, I felt like there might be a better solution. I happened to trip across sheet organizer boxes online and had to test them out! There are various options, but THESE are the ones I ordered. They were $32 for a set of four when I ordered them, and now they are almost twice as much, but here are some similar options at a better price point. These all have good reviews…

These sheet organizers sat on my guest room bed for an embarrassing amount of time, but now that I’m in my organizing tear, it was a good time to pull them out and put them to use. They are wonderful! They are basically a Trapper Keeper for sheets. You open the outer and inner flaps, put the sheet set inside, fold in the inner flap, which is secured with hook and loop tape, fold in the outer flap, and zip it up. I question the durability of the zipper if you’re in and out of them all the time, but all eight of the boxes I purchased worked well. While it’s a little snug, they do fit a king-sized sheet set.

I like that this method of storage keeps the sheet sets contained, easy to find, and easy to pull out without sending a stack toppling.

I sorted through the closet again, which was much easier given that I cleaned it out in October 2023. I have learned that organizing happens in stages. In the first stage, you clean out the obvious clutter and, with each pass, you get a little bit more honest about what you actually love, use, and need. Could I get rid of more? Yes. Do I need to right now? No. Right now, everything fits well, and I was as ruthless as I needed to be.

And yes, we do have a lot of king-sized sheet sets, but I wasn’t going to get rid of any of those! I am a human cricket and rub my feet together so much that I wear holes in my sheets over time. I typically only need to replace the fitted sheets, though, and can continue using the top sheet.

I need to set organizing projects aside (which is a little challenging because I’m on a roll), so I can work on a few original oil paintings for Lucketts and make some progress on landscape projects…

how about people who only have 2 sets of sheets??? you are very blessed to have so much to “organise” I would love Mustard Seed to have a blog from her early marriage days, when she ha so much less, and how she coped.
With thrift store purchases, and restoring her pieces of furniture in such a creative way.
Yes, I am very blessed to have partnered with Brooklinen, a company that makes wonderful sheets for several years, which has kept me well outfitted. I’m very thankful for all we have.
If you read my business story, I share openly how I started my business at a time when we were so financially tight that I cleaned the church preschool part-time with my baby strapped to me in. Björn carrier, we didn’t have Internet, and never ate out. I write a lot about budget decorating in the first few years of my blog, but we’re in a differ season of life now. I’m still very budget-conscious, but we have more to work with!
We have a small house and small cupboards in the bedrooms and a small linen closet in the hallway. I decided a few years ago that each kid would have their sheet sets in their own room. I got rid of quite a few sets and only left 2 for each bed and also a set of flannel sheets for the colder days (hardly used). And yet, the ones for my bed in the linen closet still get messed up between king and queen (I have different sizes for my bed) husband says it’s never him..
Does anyone have a good storage solution for bulky comforters and duvets?
Go to the rabbit hole called IKEA, which has fantastic solutions for bulky duvets and comforters.
Thanks. Bedankt.
Space bags, where you vacuum out the air in comforters, etc, drastically decrease their size for storing. I wouldn’t use on down, but alternative fills should be fine.
I have found that the nicer quality of the sheets the easier they wear, too. I think I am a human cricket too b/c I am always wearing my fitteds on my side. Either that or I need to get pedicures more often haha.
Love those organizers and sending to my sister who is just now organizing her lake house with 7 beds. She needs these big time!!
