We’re having a lot of visitors through the end of June and early July. For those who are lovers of Civil War history, you know this is a key week in my neck of the woods. It’s the 150th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg and today was the anniversary of Pickett’s Charge. My dad went on a commemorative march across the same ground the Confederates (including a great, great, great grandfather) did 150 years ago. There were thousands of people there – tourists, guides and reenactors and he said it was awesome.
Anyway, so one of those visitors was my aunt and uncle. They wanted to visit, check out some of the events and pick up my old dining set, which she bought from me just before the Lucketts Antique Market. She drove up to our house and I noticed she had a ton of stuff in her SUV. My first thought was how in the world will we fit the dining room set in there with all of that other stuff?
My son was in the car with them and yelled out, “Mommy, we have lots of fabric for you!”
It took a second to register. They have fabric for me? Could that all be fabric? Could it ALL be FOR ME?
Well, it was all fabric – 3 bins, 2 bags and about 30 rolls. And it was all for me. My Aunt Susan was hauling it up from my Aunt Karen, who had cleaned out her fabric stash. She’s a very talented designer/decorator and has great taste. She sent fabrics she thought I would like…lots of blues and reds and fabrics with French and European influences.
I sorted through everything and picked out my favorites…
One large scale blue & white plaid particularly caught my fancy, so I immediately hauled the bolt into the family room…
…and put my fabric swatch against it…
Awesome!
The bolt of my swatch fabric arrived today, too, so I am ready to do some sewing!
My aunts sure know how to make my day.
