For those of you who have missed my furniture before & afters – this post is for you!  Today I’m sharing a classic Miss Mustard Seed dresser makeover.

I bought this dresser off of Craig’s List a couple of weeks ago.

It looks like it’s natural wood, but it’s actually painted brown.  It did have the original hardware, though and it’s solid as a rock.

I painted it out in one coat of a custom mix of milk paint by Homestead House and lightly distressed it.  (I’m going to make some video tutorials on milk paint soon.)  Milk paint did the magical thing it does and created this awesome flaked finish.  I finished it off with a clear coat of Annie Sloan’s clear wax, so it’s super smooth, despite the textured appearance.

I decided to paint the top on this one, since it was already painted brown (and I didn’t want to strip it in my living room or carry it to the basement.)  A little lazy, I know, but I think a painted top works better on this piece, anyway.

I’ve always been attracted to these vintage scooters, but never found one at a good price and in a color I liked.  I found this one for a great bargain and the color is perfect!  I bought it to sell, but I’m pretty smitten with it, so we’ll see.

I drew up some fun chalk art for my little photo session with the new dresser and scooter.

Sigh…it’s nice to be painting furniture again.

(Which is a good thing, because I’m going to have to fill up a truckload for the Lucketts fair!)

I’m linking this to SNS at Funky Junk Interiors.

Before I close my post for the day, I just wanted to share that it looks like one of my pie-in-the-sky dreams will become a reality.  It’s going to be a while before I’m ready to share all of the details, but I had a super exciting conversation today that got the ball rolling.  God is so good to me.

This week started with the loss of power from a storm.  It wasn’t really the storm that knocked out the power, but the wall of wind that came right before the rain.  It took out trees, limbs, power poles, and made a general mess of our yard and pool.  Jeff
