A few years ago, I worked with The Maple House Collective, a small business based in Washington state that sells antiques and housewares online and eventually in a renovated barn.  I love following the journey of Phoebe and her family for a few reasons.  First of all, the aesthetic of the shop is stunning.  Phoebe is amazing at curation, styling, and photography.  Second, I love that it’s a family business and they all work very hard together.  You want to shop from them and root for them and it always feels good to buy from a business like that.

When she reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in doing some product photography, I said yes without any hesitation.  As a small business owner myself, I know how nice it is to get a fresh eye on your products and to receive some photos you didn’t have to create yourself.  I knew this would be a fun project and, the best part is, that I get to keep the items I photograph.

As a side note, this isn’t a sponsored post.  I just wanted to share the work I’ve been doing for them as well as highlight their lovely shop.

So, let me show you some of the products I photographed recently…

I don’t know if it’s possible to have too many pairs of scissors in a house, so I was immediately drawn to these Merchant & Mills kitchen shears.  The best word I can use to describe these scissors is yummy.  They have a beautiful weight to them, super sharp edges, and they are pretty.  They also come in the sweetest box and branded paper that I found difficult to put in the recycle bin.

These garden/pruning shears were another favorite.  They are the kind of shears that would be passed down as the ones “grandma used in her rose garden.”  They have that feeling about them.  I have quite a bit of pruning to do this year and these have been a treat to use so far

They are only $45, which I think is a great price for such high-quality garden shears.

I baked some galettes a few weeks ago with some fresh peaches and that was the perfect time to photograph their pastry brushes.  They come in 1″ and 2″ sizes and are great for washes and basting.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I am a bit fan of everyday items that are beautiful and functional.  I also love photogenic soaps like Savon de Marsailles blocks of French soap.

They carry a few different styles and sizes.

They also carry a wide line of brushes for cleaning, scrubbing, shaving, and personal care.

They also carry handcraft brooms and dusters.  If you’re going to have to sweep your floors, why not do it with a smart, old-fashioned broom instead of some mass-produced plastic brooms?

And the dusters are so pretty.  You know I love brushes and these are so fluffy and soft.  I almost hate to use them, but I do use this extended-reach duster to get the corners of our ceilings and along the baseboards.

This vintage-inspired glass measuring jar and juicer reminds me of my great-grandmother Rosa, who was known for her citrus dishes.  She was actually known for all of her cooking.  I love using pieces like that in my kitchen.  They have a nostalgic feel.

You can also find a variety of kitchen towels, which are always useful!  I have a  few more I need to photograph, but I wanted to wash them first so they didn’t have such intense creases.

The Maple House Collective started designing some of their own pottery pieces for use in the kitchen a while ago and I just love their berry strainers.  They have carried a shallow one in the past and currently have this deeper version available…

I keep it sitting out by my sink for rinsing cherries and berries to have with breakfast.

They have been adding new collections for the fall and upcoming holiday season, so I hope you’ll take a look around their online shop and find some goodies for your home or to give as unique gifts.  You can also follow Maple House Collective on Instagram HERE.

  1. I have a love affair with nice quality brushes, brooms etc. I really try not to shop with the big box stores unless I absolutely have to, so this is right up my ally!

    1. I have so many well crafted home wares, many are pictured, from Maple House which I cherish everyday. Nobody knows how hard small business work to bring these beautiful items to our homes.

  2. I always get excited when you do a new post…and today was no exception…love love all that stuff!!! Your photography is a treat! I get so many ideas from your work…we are doing some renovations so I like to keep up with the progress on your house too.

  3. Their products look very high quality and lovely! Btw, my great grandmothers name was Rosa as well. They had an outhouse until the mid 60’s when they got indoor plumbing. She had the most beautiful rose garden next to it and it wasn’t until I got older, I realized it was perhaps because it had lots of natural fertilizer er…..lol.
