I have already done a couple of Walmart try-ons recently, but when they asked me to do another, I was totally in! Not only have I had a fun time shopping their fall collections, but I have also kept several pieces to add to my wardrobe and they are current favorites. If you missed the other two try-ons, you can find them HERE and HERE. I have lost almost 30 pounds so far this year, so my size is currently in flux. While some of my clothes are getting baggy, I’m fitting back into old favorites. But, I do need to add a few more pieces to round out my fall and winter wardrobe and I don’t want to spend a lot of money since I expect (hope) my size to keep changing. Walmart offers the perfect solution. I can get some stylish, classic options that are also budget-friendly.
As I did with the other try-ons, I took a video for an Instagram Reel (embedded below), so you can see the clothes on me and moving and I also took still images from the video so that I could share a bit more information about the fit, fabric, and if I kept the piece or not. Of course, all of the product links are included, too.

I am wearing the Levis Pull-on Jeans I wore in the last try-on, a quilted puffed-sleeve tee, Time & Tru clogs in sand, and a Time & Tru checked scarf. I love the shirt because it feels like a t-shirt but brings a bit more style to the table. It has a quilted texture and puffed sleeves that elevate the look, but the fabric is soft and comfortable. It’s a fabric blend, so I expect it to wash well and not shrink. I was impressed with the quality and feel of the clogs, too. I like shoes I can just slide into and these look a bit more put-together than rubber slides or flip-flops. They come in lots of colors, even a blue corduroy that I’m considering!

I tried this Free Assembly cropped trench coat in Basil over the outfit and I wasn’t sure if the fit was the most flattering for me. I had already tried it in a large and it was too boxy, so this is a medium. It’s a great quality, though and I loved the collar, sleeve details, and pleat in the back. I think it would be flattering on those who are short-waisted and prefer tops that hit at the waist.

I bought this pullover shirt in both blue and green, but it comes in tons of colors and is only $11.98! I’m wearing an XL and it’s meant to be roomy, but I think I’m going to size down to a Large so it’s a bit more fitted. I like this top because it’s a nice weight (not too heavy), is made from very soft fabric, and visually reads like a sweater, so it could be dressed up a bit or worn with leggings for a walk. I’ll probably keep the XLs for exercise and use the Larges when I want a more fitted, put-together look.

I already had this ruffle-neck shirt in blue and I loved it so much that I snagged one in white. It’s a little shorter than I like my shirts, but I love the neck and sleeve detail to wear until jackets and sweaters. And speaking of jackets, I wasn’t sure I would like the denim blazer, but it is a keeper! It’s a very flattering cut, the denim is a nice weight, and it looks really cute. I have a lot of things I can wear it with. I’m wearing these knit ballet flats in mustard ($21.98.)

This denim skirt was a little out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to give it a chance since I was trying the jacket. It was too big on me, so I would need to size down, but I loved the length, the line, and the weight of the denim. It also has pockets! I don’t wear skirts very often, but I used to have a denim skirt that I loved and wore for years and this one is similar. What do you think? Should I order it in a smaller size?

Lastly, I tried on this Free Assembly cotton sweater, which I loved. It’s comfy and perfect for fall. I also tried a pair of the Slit Hem Straight Jeans and I really wanted to love them, but they were just too long on me. I’m just under 5’6 and, you can see in the video if I pull them up so they hit where cropped jeans would, they would look better on me. So, I would suggest these for people who are on the taller side. They felt nice, were well made, and I think the slit is a cute touch. I returned then, though, because they didn’t work on me.
It’s been an interesting experience filming myself trying on clothes and I wonder if I should always do that. Some clothes I don’t love right away end up looking the best when I watch myself on camera! I think it gives me a fresh perspective and I can judge what truly looks good or not without the familiar view of myself in the mirror.
Anyway, here is the try-on video…

Another good variety here. Yes, to your question about the skirt, and paired with the denim jacket, which will be very versatile, really nice. Together it’s a dressy look.
I really love the cotton sweater with the stripes too, and may try to order that for myself, and the pull over shirt looks great at an amazing price. I couldn’t make it for that.
For myself, with my shape, I stay away from the skinny-leg jeans, and prefer straight-legs, and the split-leg would drive me nuts, flopping around on my ankles. 🙂
Thanks for sharing.
Cute outfits! I really like the first puff-sleeve tee you tried on. Can you explain what you mean by “mid-size try-on”? I’m missing something – is it a new brand or are you describing a size range? I’ve never heard that term before and it’s confusing.
Yes, it refers to a size range! I was glad to hear that was a “thing.” It refers to people in about the size 12-16 range, which is what I’ve worn most of my adult life. There are a lot of us who fall in that size range, so it’s nice to see clothes on that type of body.
I was wondering the same thing. Wow, who knew? This has been my size range for almost 5 decades now. Some of my favorite clothes have never worn out, and are now back in the current trends again!
Yeah, I think the majority of women fall into this size range and, until recently, we’ve been largely overlooked when it comes to models and mannequins in those sizes. They have been either tiny or plus-sized.
First, yes to the skirt, it is flattering and in a smaller size it will be great. I am in the same size range also and will definitely be checking out some of these clothes. Thank you for modeling them.
Good for you! Keep going … you are so inspirational. I’m so proud and happy for you. Love the new clothes. I’m a very messy preschool teacher so almost all of my clothing is from Wal-Mart. I love their designs.
Instead of buying inexpensive
clothing at Walmart, why not get good-quality clothes at thrift stores. They are usually for a worthwhile charity (SPCA, for example) and it keeps unwanted clothes out of the landfill. You would be amazed at the brand names you can find for pennies on the dollar.
I finally decided to comment. I think the denim skirt in smaller size but with boots….not flats. Seems frumpy with flats. And not with the denim jacket which I think will work for you. Paired together it’s just too much denim. A leather or faux leather jacket would take it up a notch. And I would like to hear back after some of these have been washed. And some will pill for sure. I understand why the retailers are pushing all bloggers or influencers to do this but maybe when I want fashion I go to those bloggers/influencers. When I want home related ideas I go to those people. Now that is different when someone steps out of their lane to share something great they found or a reader asks about something different as in this case if someone asked you to share a great clothing item you were seen in.
Love the ruffled shirt! It’s so classic. Sadly, looks like it is sold out in most sizes. The denim jacket is versatile too and I definitely think you should get the denim skirt in a smaller size. I think it would look super cute with some tall boots and a sweater. You are so cute. I’m so glad you are feeling better!
I thought you looked so cute in the regular jeans, quilted top, and the scarf to finish it off. Oh, and the shoes too. I liked several of the other things, but that was my fav. Looking good, lady!
Definitely get a size smaller skirt! I agree with others that it would look really nice with some tall boots. Since it is A-line in style & flares out, a more fitted top(blouse, sweater) might work better. So many cute clothes. I like most of your choices & congratulations on losing weight. I’m sure you think differently about yourself. It’s nice to fit into smaller sizes.
Hi Marian,
I too, have lost 30 lbs and am just getting back into this mid-size range. It’s a big adjustment going back to buying clothes because you like them vs. buying whatever fits.
I just changed to an underwire bra and am shocked at the difference in my appearance and the way my clothes fit.
I agree that you should downsize the skirt. Denim on denim is definitely in style and you carry it off very well. The blazer is over the top cute.
You look great! I like the denim skirt. I’m not a fan of the split front jeans. I think longer length tops and jackets look more flattering on me but everyone’s body is different.
So many of the things that you share and I like are always sold out in my size. Can they maybe check with you earlier?
I see that Walmart knows you love navy!!
Love the skirt in a smaller size with tights, boots, and a sweater. Keep the blazer! The Levi jeans fit so well! The video is great and I love your smile!
Good work on your weight loss. I’m sure that clothes shopping is more fun for you. 🙂
I agree with your assessment of the clothes, except I’m not excited about the denim skirt trend. I remember when they were in style several years ago and they tend to read frumpy to me–although maybe with boots, as others have suggested, they might look more stylish. The denim jacket is my favorite.
I love the skirt but not so much with the denim blazer. Just pick a cute top to go with it.
Congrats on your weight loss! I bet shopping feels a lot more enjoyable now. 🙂
I’m with you on the clothing choices, but I’m not sold on the denim skirt trend—it feels a little outdated to me. Maybe it would work better with boots, like others have suggested. The denim jacket, though, is definitely my top pick!
