Miss Mustard Seed Needs Your Vote!!

No, I’m not running for an elected office…

I entered my 1940’s bathroom in the True Value SOS Contest a few weeks ago.  Here’s my entry video, in case you missed it the first time.

(For those who can’t see videos, here’s the summary…pink plastic tile, builder grade 1940’s fixtures, a ballet bar and a window with a view of plywood.)

Well, guess what?  I am a top ten finalist!!  I am so excited and I can totally visualize what this bathroom can look like with $2500.  Here’s what I have in mind…

(Again, a summary…new everything, 3/4 height bead board, mosaic tile floor, watery blues and bright whites.  Loveliness.)

Sorry for the lousy editing.  My boys kept interrupting and we had limited time to shoot today.

Can you help me win this?  Blog, tweet, post about it on Face Book and send it to your friends.  You can vote once a day until November 5, so I will be a bit of a pest about it until then.  It won’t take much time and it would be so huge for me.  Remember, you’ll be with me through every step of the makeover, so vote daily!

Another exciting thing happened today…I got to hang out with Karen (The Graphics Fairy) and we clicked immediately.  We spent about two hours chatting it up while my kiddos played on the playground and ate macaroni and cheese.  We are joining forces on an upcoming event that I’ll share about, soon!

  3. I know all about old dysfunctional bathrooms! Got 2 myself!

Voted today! Good luck! Hope you win the makeover!!!

  4. I just voted for you and will every day!!!! I have used a lot of Karen's graphics for various projects. You are two sweet ladies.

  5. Good Luck, and I voted. That is almost my icky bathroom, except mine is 1948, green plastic, with the original tub, and flooring. What is really funny, for the past 2 years I have wanted beadboard 1/2 way up, yada, yada. Great minds.

  6. I voted girl and I hope hope hope you win. Even though I love pink and black ummmm I don't like it in your bathroom. I know you can make it look gorgeous. Gots my fingers crossed!!

  7. Marian neglected to say the black trim on the tile was originally BURGUNDY and looked awful – she painted it. So at least that gave the bathroom a more cohesive look. I'm hoping she wins as I want to see what she does with it. Of course I'm her MOM 🙂

  8. I voted and I too hope you are the winner. Because I want to see what it will all look like when you are done!! Ha!

  9. By the way- what is it with pink tiles!! I had practically the same sort of bathroom when I moved into my house here- all pink.Pink tiles- pink bath- pink lavatory- Of course I did not have that lovely feature you have of the window with the view on some nice wooden boarding .
I had as a nice touch all the walls being gouged by the previous owner's spikes on her wheelchair- so there was a lot of work with filler to be done…!!!

  10. I voted too and posted the contest on facebook =) I'll be following this and voting daily, I can't wait to see the bathroom when you win!

  11. Just voted for you and will do so everyday! I live in an old home (c.1870) and we recently re-did 2 bathrooms from the 50's. Went with the 3/4 high beadboard capped with a 3" ledge for displaying fun stuff. Looks great, hope you win and can do the same!
