HGTV Tutorials

I’m still working on my second union jack dresser and spent most of the day out of the house.  Since I don’t have anything new going on, I thought I would share the links to some of my newest HGTV.com tutorials.
You can find the plans and step-by-step instructions for making this cottage style storage shelf here.
An easy way to hide the pipes under a wall mounted sink is a sink skirt.  Find the tutorial for making one here.
And lastly, check out this tutorial for a low-sew roman shade.
I hope these tutorials can help you out with some projects on your to-do list!

  1. WOW. You really do a lot of DIYing. Goodness, makes me exhausted some days.
But on a note, did you make the shower curtain? That is toooo cute, but then again I have yet to see a bad project from you.
    LOVE IT!

  2. Some fab ideas..that sink skirt would actually be a great idea for my office desk..I have way too much mess going on underneath. Look forward to seeing your union jack project finished. Have a wonderful week lovely x

  4. Well I'm definitely late to the Miss Mustard Seed party! Where have you been all my life? I came to your blog for the first time today and have since spent HOURS browsing your archives. THANK YOU for all the advice you've graciously given in your work shop series. My mom and I are in the process of begininng to rent a small booth to sell refinished antique furniture and home decor items. It is scary and I will admit I've been filled with a lot of doubt….your posts have inspired me to move forward and give it all I got. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  5. Love the Roman Shade option. One of my good friends has been trying to figure out easy Roman shades for her windows. After much discussion, we couldn't figure it out. Well, I'll just send her your link. Easy Peasy, done! Thank you!

  6. Hi, Marian
Thanks for all you do- I love it all- and yes, I am old enough to be your mother 🙂 I like her too! Anyway, that victorian style sofa on your blog banner- is the slip cover merely tied across the top/back? If so, do you have another photo of it? This could be EXACTLY what I needed!!!
    Thanks,
    Beth goodvariety@yahoo.com

  7. great idea for hiding the pipes since here in france we've got them everywhere and were just wondering what to do in our downstairs toilet room! looks so chic too! hope my hubby will go for it!

  8. I will definitely be using the roman shade tutorial. I live amongst ALOT of trees so don't have window coverings on most of my windows. But now that the season is changing the sun coming into my office at 8:30 a.m. shines right on my face and computer. I love me some sunshine but need to get work done 🙂 Thanks!!

  9. Very cool projects, busy girl. Love a low sew Roman shade! I featured your living room today in my Vintage Chic Style series. Hope I did the intro. post (and your LR) some justice. Because I'm not 'formally' trained in design, I get nervous with design posts. It's what the style means to me though.

    xoxo,
    Jami

  10. It's hard to believe that you don't have "anything new going on", lol…I wish I had half of your energy and talent. I love your blog and I have learned so much from it!
    Have a great day!

  11. Just read the tutorial on the low sew Roman shade and I think this may be the inspiration I need to buy a basic sewing machine and get something on my very naked windows. Thank you, as always, for the inspiration!!

  12. The LOW SEW Roman shade is right up my alley! Thank you for sharing! Jennifer if you buy a basic machine let me know how it goes! I took my yard sale machine to a shop and they said hopeless : ( Love Me

  13. LOVE the curtains in the first picture. Is that a shower curtain? did you make those? I love everything you make, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if you did. I am seriously thinking about having Carl do your Union Jack dresser for us. Love, love, love it.

  14. So much talent – great tutorials! Love the roman shade, and the sink skirt is adorable! Who can resist a black damask? 😉

  15. Hi I love your tutorials! The shelf is so adorable. What brand and color is the paint? I want to do this same color scheme!

the new fridge

The day of the delivery was bittersweet.  After over a month of fetching milk, butter, cheese, eggs, leftovers, and such from the garage fridge, we were going to have a working refrigerator in our kitchen again.  That was the sweet part.  The bitter part was knowing  I would no longer
