This mirrored vanity tray was one of my finds from last weekend’s yard sale run. It was $1.50 at a thrift store. This is not a dramatic transformation, but it is a great example of how simple changes can make a big impact!
All I did was clean it up and sprayed it with a few coats of Krylon Ivory in a satin finish.
I thought about making it a chalk board or doing something else with the mirrored center, but this looked lovely as a mirror. A key part of a successful makeover is knowing what to leave alone!

I love what you did with the mirror and your creative ideas for using it! Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a great weekend!
Yup, sometimes you gotta know where to stop and leave as is! Your transformation is perfect, it keeps the essence of what it is, with a current look. Love it!
I am cracking up!!! Glad we can geek together! You are so much fun, glad to become friends!

PS – love love love that tray. I passed one up at Goodwill and I have kicked myself since. Looks beautiful.
It really does bring out the detail! Really pretty now! I like that you left it a mirror and say that sometimes you just need to know when to leave it alone. I'm sure if you tired of the mirror you could always just put a pretty piece of scrap paper there {for a temporary different look}.
I found you site yesterday and was just in awe of your transformations. Your work is wonderful. I'll be visiting your site to see what you have been up to. Thanks so much for sharing.
Wow I absolutely love this – it does look like lace – so pretty
I'M so glad you came by, because I was going to join YOU as a follower, but somehow once I finished the comment I lost my train of thought. (easy for me:) so I'm so glad you mentioned it! Love your little vanity mirror cream and the bakelite and ironstone are just the greatest of companions!

p.s. I LOVE your choice of business names…Mustard Seed. My name, Common Ground is a phrase I heard while in prayer one day, and it has defined my outlook in life, for the last several years!

The mirror looks great and yes, sometimes knowing when to stop is key! Very creative uses for the mirror.

So beautiful! $1.50 is a steal! I agree, sometimes it is best to just leave it as it was meant to be. Thanks for visiting my site.

A simple, yet beautiful transformation! I, too, like it better as a mirror rather than a chalkboard – great job!
Love the mirror. You did just enough!
And by the way…that tiny aqua table in your side bar is scrumptious! Wow, I love it!

You are so right, just a little ivory paint was the perfect touch! Thanks for linking up to Trash to Treasure Tuesday, please remember to link back to REINVENTED in your post. I hope to see you back next week!
The tray looks fabulous white!
What's funny is that I think I have the exact same tray…I paid $5 for it though…at a thrift store. I liked it so much that I went back and looked for another and found a round one. Now, after seeing your post, I want to paint mine too. I thought it was already neat with the original edges, but I LOVE what you did with it…did you just tape off the mirror? How did you avoid getting any paint on it?
haha (I know this might seem like a dumb question to you, but I'm not a seasoned expert like you!)
Thanks! LOVE your blog! As you can see, I kind of stalk it. I'm sorry that you're sick! Get better!!
