Ah! Today is Friday and I totally forgot about posting FFF yesterday! I am visiting my parents in Florida and we went to Sea World yesterday, so it simply slipped my mind. Sorry to anyone who “showed up” and found their hostess wasn’t there. We’ll pick it up again next week.
I found out last week that I had been inspired by one of my bloggy friends and I hadn’t even realized it. Let’s rewind to a few months ago when a friend of my mother-in-law passed some magazines along to me. She knew I was into “decorating stuff” and she thought I would enjoy them. One of the magazines was Women’s Day Budget Decorating.
I fell in love this beautiful home that was featured inside. It was light, bright, had a Frenchy, antique style, and many of the colors used in the home are used in my home. I had been looking for a light color to paint my living and dining room and I thought the shade that adorned these walls would work. It was a retired Sherwin Williams color called Aria Ivory.
It looked great in the magazine on her walls, but would it work on mine?
I bought a test pot and tried it out. Loved it! The thing I love about this color is that it works well with warm and cool colors. So, back to last week. I was browsing around The Red Door Home blog and saw the very living room that had inspired my paint color. Maybe Stacy was inspired by this picture as well? Nope. This was her living room! I’ve been to her blog many times and I had never noticed that.
I used this color in my living and dining rooms and I am considering using it in my kitchen and family room when it’s time to repaint those. The funniest thing is that I posted about using this color and she left a comment saying how she loved the color as well and used it in most of her home! Neither of us had any idea that the magazine feature that inspired my color choice was her house.
This color is so warm and provides a great contrast to my bright white trim and dark walnut floors. It’s very neutral without looking like I’m scared of color. It looks intentional.
Thanks so much, Stacy, for the inspiration.

=) i got an FFF post ready, then when the link party wasn't up i remembered you were on vaca and assumed that you had canceled it and i had just forgotten. close, but not quite… =)
That is so cool that it was her house! How funny you didn't know! I love that room too!
Stacey's home is so beautiful! I just love her basement. Doesn't seem like a basement at all. I wish I could still read that article on her living room. It looks fantastic. I have seen pictures of it on her blog. Love that huge clock! So,you can still get the retired colors from SW?
What a lovely color and it looks very warm and inviting in your home.
Great story.

Too funny! I got that same magazine a long time ago and fell in love with that family room! I tore the pages out of the magazine and put them in my inspiration book!
Now I am off to check out her blog…can't wait!
Blessings
Thank you for sharing our "Aria Ivory" story. It is such a wonderful wall color. I have lived in my house for almost nine years now and have never even considered changing wall color. Both my sisters loved it so much that they too painted their houses with this color.
Just found your blog, so glad I did! You have some great ideas for decorating and I really appreciate it.

And it is such a beautiful shade!! Works wonderfully in both places!

Even blogsphere is a small world. 🙂 The colour looks so warm and inviting. My colour is similar in my own home (Bamboo Beach by Cloverdale Paint) and I never tire of it. I've even tried painting some colours but had to repaint to my fresh palette again. 🙂

How funny.. sometimes it's such a small world isn't it? I really like the colour on your walls, it looks really fresh, but not cold! I wonder if I can get the equivalent here in Aus?
Have a great time with your folks,
🙂 Flick
How would I go about getting Aria Ivory if it is retired? Can Sherwin Williams match it for me?
Greetings! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask.
Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest writing a blog post or vice-versa?
My blog goes over a lot of the same topics as yours and I think
we could greatly benefit from each other. If you might be
interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
I look forward to hearing from you! Superb blog by the way!
I just painted by walls Aria Ivory and I’m wondering what color white would look good as a trim color? Thanks!
