This week, we’re in Raleigh, NC to spend Thanksgiving with Jeff’s family. I am definitely a homebody and I enjoy my projects and work, but it’s been a busy few weeks and it’s nice to step away from that and get a break. So, I’m going to take the week off from posting here on the blog. I will be on social media, some, but I’m not going to live on my phone either.
What I will be doing – putting together puzzles, making Rosa’s Fruit Salad (you can find the recipe HERE), baking my No Fail Apple Pie…
…and I brought along some books on portraiture and sketch supplies, so I can continue to practice for when I’m back home with my paints and easel.
I’ll also be teaching a free MMS Milk Paint demo at The Mercantile in Knightdale, NC on Tuesday, November 20, at 5:00 pm. I’ll be available for book signings and just to say hello as well. If you’re local, I hope you can make it!

I made your no fail pie last week and it was a HUGE hit. My husband loved it, he ate the whole pie in 2 days, only thing I did wrong was I didn’t use enough apples. It’s definitely a keeper and will be making again real soon if my husband has anything to say about it. Thanks for the great recipe.

Hello Marian.. Welcome to the Tarheel State.. I so wish I could attend your class but I am obligated to watch my 5 year old grandson.. I live in Yanceyville.. which is only about 45 -60 minutes from Knightdale.. enjoy this milder weather while here and look forward to your posts when you return to the Northwest.. The above portrait is stunning. You are such a talented young woman. When I retired two years ago, I bought paints and brushes and tried my hand at watercolor. It’s definitely not as easy as it looks! I may have to stick to painting furniture!

I did a test trial of your pie to see if I wanted to make it for Thanksgiving. I didn’t take the time to make it look as fabulous as yours, but I’ve got to say…it’s the best apple pie I’ve ever had! Even more special because of its origin in Adams County! The taste and texture are wonderful and I’ll take the time to make it pretty for the big day.

I went back to read your post where you shared your great grandmother Rosa’s fruit salad…which I will be making on Thanksgiving morning for dinner later on. Thank you for sharing with your readers, it looks and sounds so yummy. And except for your blond tresses, you are a stunning copy of your great grandmother. Perhaps her creativity with food transferred to your creativity with paints? Its wonderful you have pictures to remember her by, and share with others. Have a wonderful time off, we all need that!
