Guide to Shopping Market on Chapel Hill 2015

Tomorrow is the big day!  The Market on Chapel Hill in Pike Road, Alabama kicks off at 9:00 am, Saturday, October 3.  My space is all set up and ready to be shopped.  I know that last year, a few people knew just what they wanted and my pictures were helpful in them getting to their target quickly, so here’s how the space looks…

I did have to leave all of my cute plants at home, since you can’t take them across state lines, but I did find some here in Alabama, including a couple of beautiful rosemary topiaries that I planted in hand painted (with MMSMP Linen).

(Oo.  I need to close that drawer in the morning!)

Some tips for shopping my space…

  • Our checkout is to the right of our booth, so the line won’t clog up the booth like it did last year.
  • We accept cash, credit cards and personal checks with a valid ID.
  • If there is something you want to purchase and it’s buried, heavy or awkward to carry, just pull the tag.  When you pay for it, we will give you a sold tag to tie on your purchase and we can leave the piece there until you’re ready to leave.
  • If you pull a tag and change your mind, please let one of us know, so we can retag the item.
  • We cannot hold bags behind the counter as we have in previous years.  There is a slightly different set-up and we don’t have the space.
  • People are available to help carry and load furniture and large purchases in your car/van.  If you want to buy it and it’ll fit, we’ll make sure it gets packed for you!
  • We like to go home with an empty trailer, if possible, so check at the end of the day for bargains (the market ends at 4:00 pm).
  • We brought all of the MMS Milk Paint colors and products with us, so if you have any questions, Kriste and I can help you with those.

We ran a GoPro camera for a while during set-up, so you can see a bit of the process of how the space comes together…

(I need to buy a bigger camera card, so we can show the whole thing next time!)

I wasn’t able to get good pictures of the vendor spaces down at the tent, but there is a really beautiful stuff down there!  You can check out pictures on the market’s Facebook page.  Here are some pictures of my chapel neighbors, though…

Lots of eye candy.  Clearly.

A few tips for shopping the market in general…

  • The grassy areas are a little squishy and the fire ants are in rare form, so I would highly suggest wearing a pair of boots.
  • The chapel can be pretty crowded in the morning, so if you’re not there to do intense shopping, I would suggest coming in the afternoon.  It’s a much more relaxed atmosphere and there’s more time to chat with the vendors.
  • I’ll be teaching a mini-milk paint workshop in the tent at 1:00, if you’re interested to see the paint in action.  Shaunna will be following up with a Chalk Paint workshop at 2:00.

I hope to see you tomorrow!!

  1. Wow!!! Your space looks INCREDIBLE! I can’t imagine all the work it would take to haul everything in and get it set up- must be a workout. You looked like busy bees in your video- but I loved the few moments of “stop and stare” and tweak 🙂 Enjoy! Wish I had a reason to come out there from Canada- but I sure wouldn’t be hauling things back 😉 Simply lovely items you brought this year.

  11. That looks like a humongous lot of stuff! How do you do it? I mean find that many things to sell and load, transport and unload them all. That is HARD work! I hope you sell a lot and make a lot of money for all your efforts. Wish I were there!
