furniture feature friday | favorites & link party

Furniture Feature Friday
I didn’t pick favorites tonight and I have a good reason.  It was my youngest son’s 6th birthday.  We were eating pizza, Batman cake and ice cream and I was the piece finder for his new Lego set.  I then cuddled with him.  He started crying as he was brushing his teeth and I asked him what was wrong.  Between sobs and big, sad tears he shared, “I’m so sad that my birthday is almost over!”  So, of course, we had to snuggle and talk about how great his birthday was.
Good reason to miss picking favorites, right?
I’ve already enjoyed one party, but I’m ready to enjoy another.  Link away…
Here are the rules for our furniture get-together…
1.) Your post has to be about furniture. Please, please, please…just furniture. If you find your link has been deleted, it’s not because I’m mean, it’s because your post was not about furniture. You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list! Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities qualify as furniture.
2.) Post a permalink (the link to the post), not the link to your blog.
3.) This party will close Friday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their piece(s) on next week’s FFF. Enjoy the party!

  1. You only have a 6th birthday once in your life…
My daughter’s 10th is next week…she made a paper chain count down FIFTY FOUR days out.
She REALLY looks forward to her birthday – more than anyone i know looks forward to anything.

  2. I went looking on Craig’s list for a table this week. I couldn’t find anything; Vegas is such a new town and I knew there wouldn’t be much in the way of old pieces here. The more I looked, the worse it was; most everything was glass-topped patio furniture.

I looked at your blog again and admired your empire dresser, and just for kicks I decided to look at dressers on Craig’s list.

Most things were very expensive, but then, a few pages in, I saw a nightstand that would be just the size I needed where I wanted a table. It also was a Thomasville piece, in dark wood, with inlays! It was listed for $75! That was much less than anything else out there!

I brought it home for $60! SOOO excited!

That was my first ever Craig’s list purchase. My husband laughed that I found such a nice piece so quickly for so little and said I should look for the stuff he needs next time!

Thanks for the inspiration; it was because of you that I went looking at dressers!

  3. Hi Miriam,
I absolutely, agree snuggling comes first. My grandson thinks his birthday should be every day…haha. He has one coming on the 26th. He will be four. So, I am in hot pursuit of an old school house desk for him…that is in between dropping my baby girl off at college. Thanks so much for hosting this fabulous party. Have an awesome weekend.

  4. Miriam,

I totally relate to your son’s birthday ending…
In June, my youngest turned 7. When I tucked him in that night,he was crying to…
” Six was a really good year Mommy, I sure am going to miss it”.

    Love these moments!

  5. Happy birthday to your son! Snuggle time is precious time and never worth missing. Today, my 18-year-old son left for college…and I cried during our last hugs for a while. All I can say is…it goes by in the blink of an eye. Enjoy!

  6. Thank you for hosting the party!! How fun:) I love all your work and think you are so talented!!

ANd..happy birthday to your son..I remember my daughter being six, time flies by too fast. “Tear”
