I’ve shared that the process of writing my new book, Feels Like Home, was an easy one. I mean, it was a lot of work, but it was one of those projects that felt life-giving. It was exciting and fulfilling. The words came easily and I was practically giddy during the photoshoots. It was good work and maybe some of my best work.
The hardest part of this process has been the waiting; waiting for September 7, 2021, to finally arrive so the book can be out in the world. It’s a long breath of anticipation that happens between the creative work and getting to experience the results – to physically hold the book and to receive feedback from more than just a handful of select people who have seen it digitally.
But, the official book launch is just eight weeks away, which will be here before we all know it. Until then, I’m keeping myself busy with other projects (like painting, working on our basement, and being a hobby historian) and also preparing for the birth of this book. There’s been a lot to do from creating bonus content to meeting with my marketing & PR team to lining up some pretty amazing giveaways.
Despite being busy, my team at Hachette Nashville/Worthy Publishing and I are so eager to get this book out into the world that we are going to offer a free preview of an entire chapter! We’re offering it for a few reasons…
Number one – We are all very proud of this book and, when you’re really proud of something, you want to share it with others.
Number two – For those who preordered the book, eight weeks is a long time to wait to get to see the book you bought! This chapter preview will give you a chance to read some of Feels Like Home until your physical copy arrives.
Number three – For those who like to get a sense of a book, through reviews or previews, before you buy, an entire chapter will give you a good feel for the content in this book as well as the tone in which it was written.
This isn’t a stuffy decorating book filled with high-end designs, custom homes, historic residences that dreams are made of, and rooms decorated by a team of professional designers. This book features real suburban homes – ranchers, split-levels, colonials, and salt-boxes, that have all been transformed by the homeowners. It’s down-to-earth, doable, and encouraging. It balances beauty and function, budget-friendly ideas and splurges, inspiration and practical encouragement. It’s for people who are setting up house for the first time and for those who are ready for a refresh or a total overhaul.
But I don’t just want to tell you all of that. I want to show you…
The chapter we are making available to you for free is one of my favorite – Work Spaces.
As someone who runs a business out of my home (and expects a lot of from the spaces I use for work), this was a chapter I was excited to write. I also know that so many people are working from home in this day and age and might need some inspiration and ideas for setting up their own workspaces to look and feel conducive to creativity, focus, and productivity.
You can download a copy of the chapter on Creative & Work Spaces HERE…
(If you have trouble with the download, just send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll make sure you can access the free chapter.)
