If you don’t follow me on Facebook or Instagram, then you might be wondering what happened to me! I got hit with a virus and was down and out for a good four days. I’m on the upswing now, but my mind is way ahead of my body. I’m ready to resume packing and getting ready for my upcoming yard sale, but my body says I can just work for about 15 minutes and then I need to sit down. The problem with coming down with a virus in the middle of packing is that the state of your house deteriorates even quicker than it normally might. Stuff is already in disarray and it just goes downhill from there. I know I’m sick when I don’t even care. But, the urge to tidy up came back on Saturday. I finally got past the stage where I just stepped over crumpled up tissues on the floor and took a second to pick them up. That’s a sign I’m on the mend.
Anyway, I’ll be having a yard sale on Saturday, May 7, 2022, starting at 8:00 am. We’ll probably close up shop about noon or 1:00. We are in North East Rochester (MN) and signs will be posted, but you can send me an e-mail if you’d like the address or if you can’t make it during that time and would like to make arrangements to stop by sooner. We are just trying to lighten the load and get rid of things, so we’ll do that at any time!
The yard sale will have a little bit of everything – antiques, books, kitchen gear, bedding, housewares, ironstone, decor, Christmas stuff, garden/garage items, art supplies, toys. No footbaths, though. Most prices will be expected yard sale prices. We’ll have a FREE section and many things that are under $1.00. Some of the nicer antique pieces will be priced higher than typical yard sale prices, but much less than I would sell them at an antique market, so it’ll still be a good deal. I am only set up to take cash for this sale, so hit the ATM before you come. If there are a bunch of things you want, make a pile and we’ll make a deal!
I’ll share pictures and more details of what I’m selling as I get back to organizing the garage for the sale.
Here is another round of large items that I’m selling. Everything is from a smoke-free home, but I do have two cats, a dog, and teenage boys! E-mail me at marian@missmustardseed.com if you’re interested in any of these items.
5 x 8′ Annie Selke Dash & Albert blue and cream rug – SOLD $150. This is one of the rugs I designed for as a part of a competition. It’s based on an antique coverlet and is made of hand-knotted jute, which is very soft underfoot. It’s in great, like-new condition as it’s spent most of its time rolled up and stored.

8 x 10 traditional wool rug – $250. I got this rug from Home Goods a few years ago. It does have two small orange spots from a drink spill that I haven’t been able to get out. You have to know they are there to see them, but I just wanted to disclose. Otherwise, the rug is in great shape.

SOLD – This one is hard, but I am selling my antique blue and white pedal car. It has been wrapped up in our garage, in exactly the same place we put it when we moved here. It’s time to let it go to a new home where it will be loved. Great to put under a Christmas tree or to display as a piece of art on the top of a cabinet. – $100

SOLD – A pair of outdoor chairs from Walmart. We used them for our patio makeover (you can read about that HERE.) These are great chairs, but they are just too bulky to take along.

They are two years old and have always been covered unless we’re using them. The pair comes with cushions and covers for $300.

Send me an e-mail at marian@missmustardseed.com if you are interested in any of those pieces and/or would like more details about the upcoming yard sale.

pedal Car
Hi Marion, I would like to purchase all your ironstone. I sent an e-mail but you can reply here if you did not receive it.
Very interested in your peddle car. Please let me know shipping cost to Tehachapi, Ca. 93561. Thank you.
Hi Rachel, I as born and raised in Lancaster, brought back memories seeing “Tehachapi”! Imagine it’s much larger than what I remember ?
It would be the 10 hour drive to Rochester for us to visit and shop! 🙂 In my opinion, of course, but maybe not my husband’s….lol
Hope it’s a bright and beautiful day for your sale 🙂
typo! *It would be worth …*
I’m so sorry you weren’t feeling well. I wondered why I didn’t see any emails coming through. Feel better. And don’t push yourself too hard. You’ll find yourself sick again. Good luck
Hello, Marion!
Glad you are feeling better! I must not have been paying attention, because I was shocked that your boys are now teenagers! It happens way too fast!
I am wondering if you would consider shipping the blue and cream rug, and what kind of backing it has. I have looked at literally thousands of area rugs at this point and yours is the first that has “spoken” to me.
I thank you for your time. Hope you continue feeling better and better!
Gratefully, Lillace
Oh to live nearby…best of luck with your sale. You’re an inspiration to me as I’m clearing out my family’s house in Ohio. I was going to keep and ship Mom’s sterling silver ( similar to your pattern) but I decided to gift it to my cousin’s granddaughter for future use. I don’t have anyone to leave it to so it’s time to let it go. It makes my ❤️ happy knowing it’s still in the family.
Glad you’re feeling better.
I’ve been a fan for a very long time (a decade possibly) and thought it was cool that you moved to the Midwest (I live an hour from Rochester & love it’s small city atmosphere).
I love your style & I swoon over your art room.
Thank you for sharing your creativity with us.
Wish there was shipping for the Selke rug. I would buy it!
The car was a steal.
Good luck with your move. Glad you’re feeling better.
Has the blue rug been sold? It is no marked. Also I would love garage sale information.
Good luck with your garage sale! I am sure it will be a hit and people will come from miles around…I know I would if you were closer.
Marian, I’m glad you are feeling much better now. It’s hard to be out of commission when one has so much to do! I wish I lived close to you and could come to your yard sale! I’m sure I’d buy some of your Ironstone and much more. I hope your sale will go well and also your move. I’m looking forward to seeing what your new home will be like and also your home improvements that will be sure to come. I’m looking forward to a short trip to Isle Of Palms with my daughter, Jill, next month!
Hi I am interested in your xmas decor. thank you
I would of loved that car. Are you selling any blue and white quilts thank you so much. Safe travels
Marian, you guys will be able to live in a tent you will be so light in belongings!!!!
I hope you don’t regret letting so many things go. What I’d do to live by you since your announcement –
just sigh.
I wish you all the very best as you move forward with these changes. Stuff is just stuff anyway, right?
Any chance you’re selling the mustard quilt you have in the guest room? I loved it from the day I saw it.
Hi Marian, I always look forward to your emails and keeping up with all of your projects! I think
you mentioned that you would be willing to ship some of your ironstone. I live in Georgia so I
wouldn’t be able to make it to your yard sale. I am starting to collect ironstone but don’t find
much in this area. If you are still thinking about shipping I would certainly be interested. Hope
you are feeling stronger each day.
If you still lived in PA, I would have driven to come to your yard sale but MN is just a little too far ?
Hi Marian — Glad you are feeling better! I live in NY & it’s just too far for me to drive (by myself I might add). I had written you about a clock but I didn’t get a response for which you are forgiven since you’ve been ill. I would need to have it shipped & I know that would be a pain in the fanny, but I am a clock lover & am fascinated with old clocks. I would definitely give it a loved home.
I’m so glad that you are feeling better. A virus can drain you and it takes time to recover so try to rest when you can. Good luck with your sale. I live in central Pennsylvania otherwise I would be there! You have inspired me so much. Best of luck with your move.
If I was not on the opposite side of the country I would come for ironstone. You just cannot find it in this area. Good luck with all your sales.
We have been under the weather with awfully cold virus and allergies.
Looking for address for garage sale. Thanks!
I was born/raised 70 miles from Rochester. In the past (and even now) I’ve been interested in antiques and collectibles, plus decorating. However I’m at that stage of life where we’re down-sizing. It breaks my heart our kids/grandkids don’t want any of our “stuff”. Good luck with your move and all that entails!
