What’s Around the Corner

I am waiting for things to slow down, so I can work on some tutorials to share with you, but things keep popping up!  It’s all good stuff…people want custom pieces, want to buy stuff out of my house, I’m moving into a new shop space this week…and the list goes on.  I owe you some good tutorials, so they will come shortly.  Until then, here are some sneak peeks at what is coming up.
These pictures are from one of my “photo shoots” for my HGTV.com tutorials.  I live in orchard country, so I had a great time hitting up some local fruit markets for pretty produce and flowers.
These miniature pears were my favorite.
You’ll have to wait a few more weeks to see what the projects and tutorials are all about.  I’ll definitely be posting a link, though!
This is the French style dresser I picked up at a yard sale this weekend.  I love the shape and the hardware and it’s very solid.  Just ignore the dirty paint and stickers.  This old girl is going to be glamorous again when I’m done with her.  Apparently this dresser was out of the “Presidential Suite” in the old Holiday Inn in Gettysburg, PA.  Pretty cool.
The biggest thing in the near future is my move into a new shop space.  I’m moving in this Friday and our grand opening is Saturday, September 25.  Here’s a look at the space…

If you live in the area, we would love a warm welcome for our grand opening.  I’ll be coming to the shop for a few hours to say “hello” to anyone who can make it.   The address is 21 Pennsylvania Ave, Walkersville, MD, 21793.  I’ll share some pictures of my new space this weekend.
Thanks to all of you for your support, compliments, and encouragement throughout the growth of my blog and business over the past few months.  This is an awesome community and I am truly honored to be a part of it.

Not sure if I told you but the french provincial girls desk that I made over sold to the first person that called. For a total $30 investment, I sold it for $115!! Thank you for all your encouragement. Now I just need to find more things to work on!

  4. Pennsylvania Avenue…it sounds like the White House. The interior looks like a lovely space to have your shop goods. I know you will put all your wonderful touches on your displayed pieces.
wish we lived closer. I would definitely pop by and say hello.

  5. Best of luck setting up your new space. It looks wonderful so far! I am trying to refinish an old French Provincial dresser right now, myself. I can't wait to see what you do to yours. I feel a bit intimidated, but hopefully I can get it done. You always make things look so easy. Love & blessings from NC!

  8. The shop looks great…is this the shop that you already stock your wares in that is moving? Or is this shop going to be just your stuff? Either way, how exciting! I don't know how you keep up, I would have had several meltdowns by now keeping up with half of what you have been up to lately!

  12. Congrats on your new shop… I am sure you will do well there. I think you would do well anywhere you go. Congrats on the HGTV thingy too. You so deserve it. I wish you nothing but success, you have worked so hard to come this far and now enjoy the fruits of your labour.

  13. Like everyone else, I wish I lived close enough to pop into your new shop! It will be fun to at least see the pictures.
I have a question for you about your ironstone post. I bought a teapot at a yard sale that says "Castleton China" and then says Ironstone, but then says made in Japan. Does this mean it's not "real" ironstone? Does it always have to be made in England? And also, are they still making it because this piece doesn't look very old, so maybe someone in Japan is making new reproduction ironstone? Anyway, just wondering. I like it either way so I guess it doesn't matter too much!

  14. Those flowers and pears – oh! What an antidote to my chaotic morning; thank you. And thanks for sharing a photo of your new shop. I can't wait to see it as it progresses and will definitely stop in if I'm in the area. (love those pillars!)

  16. Your space is beautiful and I know you will make it look amazing! That's quite an address too! How do you stay organized? Are you a listmaker?

  17. Marian,

Congratulations! Wow, your shop space looks great. Will you post some pictures once you've got things arranged? Before they open the doors and your sold out of all of your fabulous furniture and accessories? 🙂

  18. You'll need to make sure to show us how your dresser turns out. I just bought one yesterday at a thrift store that looks a lot like it. Can't wait to see it! Thanks for sharing so much.

  19. Oh, how I wish I was in driving distance. I'd be there in a heartbeat!

Your luscious pear photo reminds me of the cover of my Beth Moore workbook. So lovely in so many ways.

    Thanks for all the inspiration.
