Moving Day

I moved into the shop today!  Well, sort of.
(Warning: There was a light breeze blowing during the filming of this and one piece of my hair kept standing straight on end.  I can hardly watch this video with cracking up at it.  My hubby didn’t bother telling me that I was having an Alfalfa moment.  Thanks, dear.)
For those who can’t see the video, here are some pictures.  (Minus the Alfalfa doo.)
The outside of the shop is going to look so charming once it’s had some minor cosmetic work and has some cute things sitting out, inviting those who stroll by to come inside for more.
This morning, all of my stuff was piled in the car and I was ready to get settled into my new space…
…but, there was this…
…and this…
so I did this…
…and put a plastic sheet over the whole thing.
It all worked out well, though, because I was able to run over to Chartreuse and Company to see their barn sale.  It was glorious and I’ll share about it later.  I’m going back to the shop next Thursday to get my booth set up and “play.”  Fun, fun, fun.

  2. your space looks AMAZING. Wish I could rush over and swoop up half your stock. Unfortunately, I am in Florida and won't be able to make it anytime soon. 🙁

  4. Everything looks great. Hoping to still make it on Saturday, it's on my calendar anyways.

Hope your feeling better by then. 🙂

  5. Truly amazing and I wish you all the best success. I promise that if I am ever in the area, I'm stopping in! I just finished a little re-purposed spice rack for my step daughter, and you of course were my inspiration and mentor on the project! Thanks as always for sharing your craft and artistic style with the masses.

  6. You are such an amazingly busy woman…I don't know how you do it! Your new store is beautiful and I wish you luck (I know you'll do great!)

  7. So sorry I won't be there for the openning. The shop looks incredible – in theater terms "Break a leg". We are so proud of you. Mom and Dad

  8. Best of luck on Saturday; I will be in Ohio at the Country Living Fair. Maybe next year I can make it ti Maryland or Lucketts.

  9. Sure wish I lived nearby! Love so many of your items. Did you happen to do a tutorial on the paper wreath? Do you ever sell and ship out of state? Best wishes on your newest venture-can't believe how amazing the front of the shop looks compared to the "before" photo! 🙂

  10. Sounds like you had a great first day! Your booth looks very charming. I love the pops of aqua throughout. Nice job, Marian. Congratulations. I know it was a big day today. Get some rest and feel better.

  11. Congratulations on your new booth! Of course, it looks amazing and I'm sure it will be super-successful. Only wish I could visit in person! K xx

  12. Your store looks awesome! I think I could spend hours in there just looking around and taking it all in. So beautiful!!

    Hope you feel better soon!

  13. Your space is looking fabulous!! In fact, the whole shop is amazing! Love that screen door!!
Boy! Opening day is just around the corner!! Woot!!
Hope you are feeling terrific by opening day!!
    Hugs and good luck

  14. Ok ok, I think I need to move closer to you. Unfortunately, that would take a lot of paperwork and such, me being from Canada and all but WOW! Not to mention the fact that I would probably spend all my paychecks in your store, so I guess it's not a good idea.

The silver compote would be gone for sure, and quite a few other things as well… But I AM drooling over the silver compote ARGH!

  15. My dresser is still there! Is it horribly evil of me to hope it doesn't sell until I can come up with the dough to buy it? I know it will, and I will weep an ocean-full of tears. I love that piece so dang much I don't even want to attempt to imitate it. I just want to own it. And maybe hug it every time I pass it.

The new space looks great! Congratulations of all your success, it is much deserved!

  16. Oh I wish I could make it on Saturday but since I snuck to Lucketts, I kinda have to stay put and work on our 30-year-in-the- making Yard sale. I can't wait to get out and see the shop later this fall.

BEST WISHES for a WONDERFUL GRAND OPENING!

  17. I can not even begin to tell you how much I love those lamp shades.
That shop is so groovy. I wish I lived nearby so that I could check it out!

  18. Everything looks fantastic!!! Did you have all that in your house before you moved it to the shop? Your house must be completely empty now!

Best wishes for a spectacular opening.

  19. This is so exciting! My dream is to open the same type of concept store (even though I have a career now…insert indecisive face here)I'm so jealous 🙂 Everything looks so well merchandised; best of luck!!!!

  20. Such excitement! I really love that the store does not have dividing walls between the booth spaces. You all have such similar taste in inventory the flow of the store blends beautifully!
Congratulations! Wish I could be there for the Grand Opening. I hope you have lots more inventory, because these items are going to sell quick!

  21. The shop is so charming and would entice anyone who passes to visit—your space looks great!

I hope you get well soon!

  22. Congratulations on getting everything set up! It looks really wonderful from here. The mirror in the china cabinet is perfect, I think.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the lovely comment. 🙂

  23. Beautiful! I was hoping to stop by your former shop on my cross country drive to CT, but the new shop is a little out of the way. Your website lists the shop in Pennsylvania, buy it really is in Maryland, right? Love, love the small silver boudoir lamps. Ann

  24. Looking good! Seriously.

All you need to do is hide a coffee machine amongst your goodies and people would be hard pressed not to snuggle into that daybed, sip a cup and read… OR buy it and take it home – then snuggle down.

Or maybe that's just what I'm inspired to do…
