ushering in spring with faux florals

Oh, girls…  I am down in Florida right now having a personal creative retreat and it’s been soooo good.  I can’t wait to sort through my pages of notes and share it all (or a lot of it) with you. But for today, I’m featuring one of my fellow creative business owners…

I’ve followed Courtney from The French Country Cottage for years.  I’ve always admired her romantic, yet unfussy style.  Every time I read one of her blog posts or see a frame on her Instagram, I think, “Flowers must follow that girl everywhere she goes.”

And now, Courtney has designed a faux floral line presented by Balsam Hill.  The pieces she designed for the line are so pretty and so “her”.  Very romantic and elegant.

I hung the Marseille Meadow wreath on the hutch in my dining room and stood back to admire it.

It was a stark contrast from the foot of snow sitting on my lawn.  I actually thought, “Well, this is a nice way to make it feel like spring!”  Spring is still weeks away here in Minnesota, but we are getting some days in the 40s and the snow is starting to melt.

I also love the Brittany Rose arrangement.  Courtney really nailed it with the combination of colors, textures, blooms, and greens.

I’m planning to put it in my guest room to add a bit of life!  It’s too dark in that room (which is in the basement) to have a live plant, so this is a great alternative.

I also selected some of their hydrangea flower stems.  I’m hoping to plant a bunch of hydrangea bushes this fall, but it’ll be a few years before I get a bunch of blooms to fill vases through the summer.

They paid so much attention to detail when they made these…from the shape of the leaves to the pink tips of the green petals to the stems that have had “leaves” trimmed off.

I always enjoy seeing the success of talented, hard-working creative entrepreneurs and it’s an honor to showcase Courtney’s line from Balsam Hill.

You can see her designs in some other bloggers homes…

Disclosure: I received complimentary faux florals in order to promote them for this blog post.  I did not receive any additional compensation.  It’s a pleasure to support my friend in this business endeavor.  All words and opinions are honest and my own.

  1. I’m excited to hear more about your creative retreat. If the other people there were half as talented as you, I’ll bet you got some amazing ideas.

The faux-flower arrangements are stunning. Even this non-faux-flower person is tempted. The second arrangement (immediately after the pie) is especially beautiful. I can hardly believe how real it looks.

  2. I love the Hydrangeas-so realistic! I went to the Balsam Hill website but cold not find that creamy color that you bought. Can you share what the color is called? Thank you!

  3. Marian, that Marseille Meadow Wreath is absolutely beautiful! Balsam Hill have such lovely items.

Enjoy all these items in your gorgeous home! They are truly a breath of Spring! Blessings! Have a wonderful week!

  4. These faux flowers are a cut above what you’ll find at stores today. Such attention to detail as you point out by even including the bits where leaves have been cut off.

I had a home-based “sideline” business making floral arrangements in the 90’s and there was an abundance of quality lines at wholesale warehouses to go to then. This new collection from French Country Cottage is so reminiscent of those quality lines, especially the realistic looking stems, which I and many designers preferred. And as you mentioned, her mix of greens makes this collection so botanically correct.

Kudos to Courtney on her new “silks” as we called them back then.

  5. I also follow Courtney and she is so creative and responds so graciously on IG. I wish her much success and look forward to checking out her floral designs…

  6. Absolutely stunning in your hands Marian!! Oh my gosh. I am in love! And the retreat sounds amazing!! Thank you so much for your kind words and for joining me on this tour! xo

  7. These arrangements are truly beautiful but way out of the price range of many people. Enjoy your beautiful gifts.
