May the Force Be With You – Star Wars Mural

For those of you who have grown accustomed to my classic, feminine style you’ll realize right away that this is something out of my element! This weekend I completed a mural for an eight year old boy who absolutely loves Star Wars. Although, this is not what I gravitate towards, it was such a fun project and I loved hearing, “Oh cool! It’s the Death Star!” and similar exclamations from my client peaking through the hallway.

I placed the Star Wars logo above his bunk bed, so it’s the first thing that catches your eye when you walk in. Lest you think I am too amazing, I did use a projector for this part. I tucked an X-Wing Fighter between the bunk beds, so he can hunker down in there and play.

His mom scored these Storm Trooper Cheese-it displays from a friend who worked at Wal-Mart. I’m telling you, this is a cool mom! She also purchased the Star Wars bedding from Pottery Barn Kids.

I am not a huge Star Wars dork…um, I mean fan, so I do not know what these are called. I just know it’s the “bad guy” ship. (Kelly @ Dare to be Domestic has let her dorkiness show and informed me that these are called TIE fighters. Many thanks!)

This was the most time consuming part. My client loved the bounty hunters, so I put Jango Fett crouching next to his dresser. His mom expects he’ll spend hours shooting at him and hitting him with light sabres (it’s a good thing I offer free touch-up for a year!)

And what’s a Star Wars room without the Death Star?

I finished off the room by adding clusters of planets and stars all around to emphasize the space theme.
On a side note, this boy’s father is currently serving in Afghanistan, so it was an extra privilege to be involved in giving him a Star Wars dream room.

Great job! The guy I work with is so into SW, he had a personalize license plate and SW figures on his desk. I bet he would love to have some of the stuff in this little guys room.

Look at how versatile you are! That is so cute! I'm sure that little boy just went in there and took it all in for hours.

What kiddo wouldn't love that? Awesome! I'm just wondering, have any teens or tweens wanted you to do anything Twilight related? I have a friend that did her daughters room in that motif.
      Have a great week,
      Anne

No Twilight requests, yet. Maybe that's around the corner…

Very cool, girl!! An exquisite background for a little guy!

I LOVE that colour blue. I did the same tone in my son's bedroom for a night sky, but also included the ceiling. (as well as crumbling greyishg brick from the floor up like a wainscotting)

Your post encourages me to get back into his room and crank it up a notch! Thanks!!

My husband would DIE if he saw this. I am sitting in his Star Wars room now. It is painted black – yes, all of it – that's why I call it the Black Hole. Your Star Wars room is WAAAAYYYYY cooler.

That death star looks like it's 3D! Awesome room! I also wanted to let you know that I used your tutorial for antiquing furniture with dark walnut stain. I'm aging a wooden cradle right now and I'll post in on my blog when I'm done. Thanks for the idea, I'm loving it!

    17. Kelly @ Dare to be Domestic

First of all – this rocks! My boyfriend would DIE to have his man cave looks this amazing!!! Well done. Second… My dork is going to show but I believe the "Bad guy Ships" are called TIE Fighters. Yes, I'm a dork, and a Star Wars fan. I'm not as huge of a fan as my boyfriend but growing up on these movies has made me appreciate how magical the movies of that era truly were! WELL DONE!!!

    18. Becky

      Oh. My. AMAZING!

I LOVE it!!!! My little boys are into star wars and would DIE to have this room. Like kill over, they're dead.

I called my 5 year old over to see it and then changed my mind in showing him. I'd never heard the end of him wanting this room. LOL You were right on the money with having Jango Fett. How fun!!

      Seriously, it's fantastic. :o)
