master bedroom Christmas decorating

I don’t decorate every single room in the house for Christmas, but our master bedroom is right off the family room, so I like to bring a few festive touches in the room.

I decorated the room pretty much as I did last year.  I don’t feel like I have to keep things the same, but I also don’t feel like I have to change what looked really pretty the previous year.

My dress form is wearing an antique costume jewelry necklace that belonged to my Oma.  I also wrapped a length of wool mini pom-pom garland around her neck.  It’s the same Anthropologie garland I used on the Christmas tree, but I added some homemade poms on both ends.

As I did last year, I draped our grain sack stocking advent calendar on the foot of the bed.  Each day, I fill the stocking with a mini Lego set and instructions from the Lego advent calendar.

Ann Drake from On Sutton Place made the stockings for me out of grain sack scraps I collected and  sent to her.  I love how there is a variety of blues, textures and stripe patterns.  I bought the clay number tags from Simple Home Life on Etsy.

And I added my freshly painted horse to my night stand along with some fresh greens around his neck and a length of yarn with pom-poms at the ends tied around the lamp bases.  It’s a simple touch that cozies them up.

On the other side of the room, I just put some greenery over the French armoire I scored on craigslist.  (This picture is actually from last year, but it looks pretty much the same this year!)

Like most of the US, we had an unseasonably warm weekend, so I took advantage of it and put Christmas lights outside.

I love how happy the house looks with greens in the window boxes and lights on the bushes…
