Furniture Feature Friday – Oh, The Wonderful Things That White Can Do!

Welcome to my second Furniture Feature Friday! Remember I’ll have my very first linky party next week, so get your posts ready!

For this week I found a wonderful makeover to inspire you. We all have seen those gargantuan 1970’s china cabinets in thrift stores and on Craig’s List for next to nothing. I am pretty brave with the furniture I buy to redo, but I’ve never had the guts to take on one of those. They are huge, heavy, often times have weird hardware and dated details. I now see that I was a fool.

Do you see what I mean? The Enchantresses Three saw the potential in this old china cabinet that was purchased off Craig’s List for a song and, boy, did that vision pay off! This is what it looked like before…
Yikes…That molding is really something else. I know I would’ve walking by without a second look if I saw this in a Goodwill.

It’s so big it takes two pictures to show you what it looked like before! The top actually has a great shape, but I would have been deterred by the bottom half. They used a spray gun (smart girls) and painted it in a crisp white – hardware and all! Doesn’t it look gorgeous?

The top piece is lovely and the slight distressing really brings out the curves and details.

And even that dated hardware and chunky trim looks classic and even a little edgy with a coat of white paint.

And the display inside? Oh, ladies…well done. Lots of arranging ideas and inspiration, here.

Make sure you pay a visit to the blog of these three brave & talented ladies and tell them (and the helpful hubbies) what a wonderful job they did.

Another makeover that I thought deserved an honorable mention was the Bookcase Before & After at The Whispering Creek House. Great work!

So, get your furniture projects ready to share for the linky party next week. I will post it on Thursday at 10:00 pm and run it through Friday at midnight. And as an extra incentive, I have a giveaway for my favorite transformation! I found this great wood tray at a thrift store a few weeks ago and have been saving it for this. I will custom paint this tray however the winner would like. It can be modern, floral, shabby chic, primitive, classic, monogrammed or left as is. Whatever! It’s winner’s choice!

Thank you so much to all of my followers, new and old. It’s been so exciting to watch my numbers grow and to read all of your encouraging comments. I really do value each and every one!
One technical note – it was brought to my attention that my buttons were not functioning properly. The problem has been solved, so please grab a new button to spread the word! Thanks!
