Who Inspires You?

Do you have people in your life who stimulate you creatively?  Well, I get loads of inspiration from the blogs, but one person who always leaves me with tons of ideas is my friend and blog/web/brand designer, Laura.  She just returned from a school semester in Spain and came for a short visit.
While we’re together, we always paint and sing along with musicals.  (In case some of you weren’t aware, I majored in Musical Theatre in college, so I really love belting to a good musical.)
I worked on a round occasional table, which I’ll reveal to you when it’s finished…
…and she painted a toile scene on my plank-top table.
Our musical of choice for this visit was Sunset Boulevard, but other favorites are Wicked, The Woman in White, and Jane Eyre.
We’re going to stay up late chatting about web design and plans for my blog.  I’m always excited to see what she designs for me and it always inspires me to grow creatively and artistically.  Do you have someone like that in your life?

  1. Oh how I love musicals ~ even more now that my oldest son and daughter both participate at school (he in stage crew, and small acting parts on occasion and she acting, singing, dancing and this next year as student director as well). LOVE Wicked it is playing at any given moment here at home
    🙂
And as for my inspiration….I would have to say my 3 kids always inspire me to be more creative.

Cannot wait to see the reveal. ~ Rebecca

  2. How sweet to have your friend with you and it looks like she is whipping up an awesome toile! Can't wait to see what you guys have planned for the blog.

As for my inspiration, I get it everywhere, including here! You are so talented! xoxo Beth

  3. Well of course you the Divine Miss M of the blog world, you inspire me. But I have to say on a day to day basis my family inspires me.

I'm fortunate that both my parents are very artistic and talented as well as my husband and daughters and they are always full of good ideas and very supportive of mine. I love being surrounded by people who can think outside the box and still know how to make it pretty.

  6. I am still trying to figure out what inspires me.. or maybe I need to dwindle it down to just a few.. or maybe I already know but have not had enough coffee this morning to remember what inspires me.. But something must.. Right?

  7. The toile is gorgeous! I look forward to the reveal.

My daughter (3) loves music and thankfully also enjoys watching musicals with me:)

  8. I can't wait to see your creations when your done!
Let's see who inspires me….well anyone who can quilt, sew or able to make something old or used make it look absolutely adorable and make it look so easy! People like Marian. : )

  9. My friend, Linda, is inspirational. I love her ideas and always come away ready to do something new and creative.

  10. How fun! To have a great friend but share passions is the hilt!

I'd totally be interested in hiring her to help me tweak my blog if she'd like some work. 🙂

Your paintings are both beautiful! Can't wait to get an enhanced view.

Singing? Cool. I think I learn something new about you every day. 🙂

  11. I'll be honest, just over this past few years have I picked back up my creative juices from laying dormat and began to really make them a part of my everyday life. No excuses, other than had this crazy notion in my head, from hearing from someone as a child that other things should be more important and take priority. It's been like a large part of me has been missing and now I'm loving being the total person I was created to be. I draw so much encouragement from people like you who share their creative side with others. It's wonderful. Thank you!

  12. Since finding some wonderful online friends I can say I find inspiration daily.
In person I have a friend (or 2) that keep me from growing old and stagnant. That is inspiring.

  13. NO. WAY.

I adore musical theater! And I'm a classically trained vocalist 🙂 We need to get together and sing sometime… are you an Elphaba or Galinda?

You actually inspire me quite a bit 🙂

  14. I knew I liked your outside the box design ideas for a reason. I was a tech theatre major, still doing musicals with the local schools…just did lights for "Chicago"

the notesbooks on my desk

I take a hybrid approach when it comes to running my life and organizing my thoughts.  I like paper, pencils, and pens for writing down ideas, planning, and managing my day.  While old-fashioned notebooks are my preference for most things, I rely heavily on a digital calendar and reminder alarms
