The day before Thursday

Tomorrow is Thursday!!!  That means we’re finally going to install our butcher block counters.  I am so excited.

Today, I did a an insane amount of stuff to make a final push towards getting these projects done by the due date.  One of those things was removing the sink and counter that housed the sink, so I could finish the back splash.

We were successful in that, but I ran out of grout.  Bummer.  So, it’s an early morning run to Home Depot to get more and a few other things.  Hopefully our new counters will be in their rightful place by tomorrow evening (or afternoon!)

I only had to wash dishes in the bathtub once and I’m already over it.  🙂

  1. I would be so excited too, I have counters I would like to change out, but then that opens up an entire can of worms, not sure I need to open that can today, but soon, excited for you, wow is that gonna make a difference, your gonna love it,.,

  2. I will be asking you how you like them, as we are considering getting rid of our granite (hate it!) and replacing it with either soapstone or butcher block. You go!

  3. I can’t wait to see the finished product! Marion, I have to ask, where do you get all of your energy?! It seems that you accomplish more in a day than most people do in a week! Caffeine, special diet, born with lots of energy!??

  4. I can’t wait to see it all together! I am going to be doing a kitchen remodel next year and I would love to do this. My tiny teeny kitchen appreciate some butcher block.

  5. Yes, how do you get so much done in a day? Your tile is very pretty. Read your book in one day. Loved it.:)

  6. So excited for you! We start working on our butcher block counters we picked up last weekend tonight. I really appreciate you sharing your tips because it’s helped us out. Megan

  8. Looking great Marian … you will be so happy when it is finished. I am anxious to see it finished too. Thanks for taking us all along on your adventure. I have learned a lot, not that I will be doing it, but good information anyway.

  9. when we were renovating our house we lived without a kitchen for 1 1/2 years and we never ate out. washing dishes in the bathroom was all i knew for so long. glad you didnt have to do it as long as i did:)

  10. I was wondering if you are changing out your light switch plates and plug plates. It seems that white doesn’t stand out as much as the silver. Mine are now white and it is a softer look in my opinion. but my opinion is just that. Your kitchen is turning out to be a beauty.
    Excellent work Marion.

  11. Ooooh cannot wait to see the reveal! They are going to look gorgeous with your white cabinets and dark hardware 🙂

  12. Bathrooms and kitchens are the hardest to plan. I love your backsplash, and your choice of grout color, you can always count on running out of something simple like grout or sealer to finish up a tile job. Lovely!!

  13. Always at least 5 trips to home depot to finish any project! Can’t wait to see the counter instal:)

  14. When my parents gutted their kitchen, they were put out of commission for over six months. Just go ahead and bury me. See you Saturday in Roswell!!

  15. I enjoy watching each days progress, amazing thats for sure! Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!
