summer obsessions with Walmart

This post is sponsored by Walmart.  As always, all words and opinions expressed in this post are honest and my own.

With the pool completely finished and opened, landscaping underway, a new fence, and a furnished patio, we have thoroughly been enjoying our backyard this summer.  It truly is an oasis and we’ve loved using it ourselves as well as having friends and family over to enjoy the pool and relaxing environment.  As I’ve shared before, many of the items used in our outdoor space are from Walmart and we’ve added a few new things that have become summer essentials.  I love that Walmart carries reliable summer staples like patio umbrellas and comfy swivel chairs and trendy items like water-resistant Bluetooth speakers and tabletop “bonfire” stoves.

So, in this post, I want to highlight a few of my favorite summer essentials from Walmart.

The first one is my favorite new thing – THIS small yet mighty retro-style water-resistant Bluetooth speaker.  I have bought a couple of outdoor-friendly Bluetooth speakers before, but Jeff commandeered one and Marshall the other.  So, I got this one for myself and it exceeded my expectations.  It’s small but puts out a great sound and because it’s water-resistant, I can have it out by the pool and not get too hyper about people dripping on it.

I bought the small size, but it’s available in medium & large as well.  Unfortunately, the small size is now sold out, but you can find it HERE when it’s back in stock.  It’s a nice size to even stick in a pool bag or purse to take with you on a picnic, to a pool, park, on a trip, etc.  I wouldn’t encourage blasting other people with your music, but sometimes it’s nice to add a little musical ambiance to a setting. It would also be nice to take into the bathroom so you can listen to some music, podcast, or an audiobook while soaking in the bath or getting ready.  I’ve actually been using it most often on my desk while I’m working.

We have also loved the market-style umbrellas.  They are about a foot larger than the ones I bought last year and are a bit more substantial.  I also love the two-tiered design, the detail along the edge, and the neutral color (these are beige with white trim.)  I think this color will last longer than the navy umbrellas simply because they won’t fade.  The navy ones, while still functional, did fade some last summer.

We open them up almost every day to provide some sun protection while we sit outside (it’s Marshall’s favorite spot to sit in the afternoon) or to provide a shady spot when we get out of the pool.

As I’ve shared before, the teak lounge chairs were a thrift store find, but Walmart carries THESE LOUNGERS that have a similar design and look.

These are sold out this year, but they have been available from Walmart each spring for at least the past four years.  The set is the BHG River Oaks swivel/rocking woven outdoor chairs and they create a nice seating area on the deep end of the pool.  The chairs are comfortable and sophisticated, and, best of all, they come with custom covers.  We keep them covered when not in use to keep the cushions clean and dry and to extend the life of the chairs.

We also regularly enjoy the Noble House cast aluminum patio set we got when we first moved in.  It is so sturdy and classic that I’m sure we’ll be using it for decades.

Another new addition is the Solo Stove Mesa Tabletop Firepit.  We have the large Yukon Solo Stove and love it, so we thought we would give this trending mini-version a try.  As with the larger Solo Stove, it does a great job at containing and directing the smoke, which is my favorite feature.  I like the coziness of a bonfire, but I hate smelling like smoke for the rest of the day.  The Solo Stoves reduce that substantially.  The Mesa is tiny, portable, and put out of a pretty decent little fire.  I could see it being nice to set up when you want to quickly set up a fire for smores or you want to have the feel of a bonfire without having to build a big fire.  Since it’s portable, it’s also great for an RV, camping, or hiking.

I keep adding a few more of these Solar landscape lights around the garden beds in the backyard because I enjoy them so much.  They add a nice bit of light when we take Sebastian out for the last time before bed and they also look lovely reflecting in the pool.  They do have a place for an AA battery, but they work really well off of their solar panels.  I’ve been impressed with the look and quality of these given they are less than $23 for a set of six!

And, lastly, we have to have a favorite Inflatable pool lounger that everyone fights over.  We actually have two of them so there aren’t many fights over them, but this is the favorite pool lounger in our assortment.  It’s the perfect shape for laying back and floating around the pool.  At under $7.00, it’s also not a big deal if they don’t last more than one season.

I did purchase THESE Correl plates from the Pioneer Woman collection but they hadn’t arrived by the time I took pictures for this post.  I’ve slowly been collecting some shatter-proof plates, bowls, and glasses to use around the pool so we don’t have to worry about shards of glass or ceramic getting stuck in someone’s foot.  Of course, I liked that these are blue and white and the pattern is sweet.

So, there is a round-up of things we’ve been enjoying this summer from Walmart.  You can get links to all of the products featured in this post as well as other product round-ups on the LTK app HERE.

I was wondering what you do with the swivel chairs in the winter?

Your pool area looks so charming and inviting. We moved to Texas 20 years ago and bought a home with a pool. Every day I pinch myself to be so lucky:)

Some great products for the poolside! I was wondering if your pool was heated and if you would do a future post about the annual costs associated with having a pool (chemicals, maintenance, insurance, etc)

Your backyard is so inviting! You have truly made it a peaceful oasis. I cannot believe how old your son looks – where does the time go?? Also – can you tell me where you purchased the green gingham pillow?
