Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Brooklinen. I have partnered with them for years and love sharing about their products. As always, all words are honest and my own. Brooklinen is having their big 20% off Memorial Day sale now through May 31, so it’s a good time to buy new sheets, bedding, and towels.
One place that has been a haven for Jeff and me (and the kitties) during all of the renovation work has been our bedroom suite. Other than the boy’s rooms, it’s the one place in the house that isn’t acting as storage for displaced items from the kitchen, dining room, and foyer. It’s on the opposite side of the house from the kitchen, so it’s also been isolated a bit more from the noise and dust. And I can’t tell you how much I appreciate having a comfortable bed with fresh, soft bedding to sink into after a long day. Even though we’re not doing all of the work, there is something tiring about reworking life around mess, unusable rooms, and the comings and goings of people getting the job done.

As we’re nearing the end of the kitchen renovation and the upheaval that comes with it, I am excited to start focusing on deep cleaning, decorating, and getting the house feeling summery for the hot weather that’s just around the corner. And that means it’s time also time for a change from our winter bedding to summer bedding.
We don’t really change a lot but typically switch out a winter duvet for a lightweight duvet and I’ll add cotton sheets into the rotation. Here is our typical summer bed Brooklinen “recipe”…

The Luxe Hardcore Sheet Bundle includes a duvet cover, but I like to tuck the down comforter between the top sheet and the linen quilt. I love Brooklinen’s washed linen sheets, so I’ll put those in the rotation. I do feel like the Luxe sateen sheets have more of a smooth, cool feel, and the linen, especially after it’s been washed and used a lot, has a texture that feels soft and cozy like flannel.
Let me back up for a minute in case you haven’t heard of Brooklinen. I’ve been their customer and have shared about them here on the blog over the years, but you might be new here or maybe you don’t read every single post I write! Brooklinen is a luxury sheet company founded on the philosophy that people deserve simple, beautiful home essentials at a fair price. When I was first introduced to them over five years ago, I fell in love with their bath sheets (we are still using them daily) as well as their comfortable, durable, beautiful bedding. The fact that their products have stood up to our daily use, as well as regular washings, has made me a loyal customer.

I am an active sleeper and I rub my feet together when I sleep, so I will often wear holes on my side of the bottom sheet where my feet are situated. That has happened with every other brand of sheet I’ve owned, but it hasn’t happened yet with my Brooklinen sheets. I am not the only one who loves Brooklinen bedding, though. Luxe Hardcore Sheet Bundle, for example, has a 4.5-star rating after over 121,000 reviews. That is a very high rating for so many reviews! It was also rated Best Overall Sheets to buy in 2022 by Good Housekeeping.

Because we’ll be opening our pool soon, we also ordered a couple of their beach towels to start a nice stock of colorful, absorbent towels we can use as a family or lend out to people who come over. We’re hoping our house will be the happening place to be this summer, so we’ll need a healthy assortment of pool towels. As with their bath sheets and towels, their pool towels are generously-sized and fluffy. We got them in Cabana and Wave Runner.

In addition to offering 20% off for their Memorial Day Sale (running now through May 31, 2023), Brooklinen makes most of their products available in thoughtful bundles to save money. If you’re just setting up a home and need a good core of sheets and towels to get started, they have a bundle for that. If you need to buy three beach towels at once, they have a bundle for that. Whenever I shop around on their site I think that some of these bundles would make great gifts for newlyweds or college graduates who are about to set up their first apartment. Sheets might seem like a boring gift until you sleep in luxuriously comfy sheets. Then they are an awesome gift.
With a 20% off sale at Brooklinen, it’s even a good idea to treat yourself.

The new pool tiles look dreamy and perfect with the new towels!
Last winter, based on your recommendation in a blog post, I bought a set of Brooklinen sheets. There was a discount at that time too, and I took advantage of it. Bottom line…we love them! They are soft with a great drape, and very generously cut! I hate making the bed with sheets that fight you at every turn. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Easy off topic but did you like your Marlow pillows? I got 2 for us. It I’m not sure if I’ll keep them. I wish they were a bit squishy-er. I have both gussets open so there’s nothing more I can do to make them give a bit more… jut wanted your thoughts.
Jeff loves his. I use mine to prop myself up when I’m reading or watching the iPad in bed, but I use a very flat and soft-down pillow because I sleep on my stomach and need one that is like a pancake. Pillows are so personal that the Marlow might not adjust into a range that’s perfect for you.
I also bought 2 Marlow pillows. They’re meh. I’m going to keep them, but like I told customer service, after they sent two free cooling pillow covers, the covers are tight on the pillows so zipping/unzipping the pillows makes no difference. Also, there’s nothing cooling about the pillows and/or the covers and that’s the main reason I bought them. Oh well.
I so enjoy your blog! It’s a little escape for me at the end of a busy day. Thanks so much for all the inspiration! I know this isn’t your problem, but I’ll just mention that I tried to order Brooklinen percale sheets, but it only gave me 10% off instead of the 20% off all sheets promised on the home page. They look wonderful!
Oh, please send them a message to let them know! They have excellent customer service and would want to rectify that.
I also bought the Brooklinen sheets and love them summer and winter. However, they are surprisingly fragile. My husband has many calluses and has torn up his side of the bottom sheet and that gets expensive. (I use shea butter and half socks to soften mine.) I have replaced the bottom sheet with a bamboo sheet which I thought I’d hate but it’s working out fine. The linen pillowcases are especially nice.
Sue, Brooklinen has a lifetime warranty. Perhaps call them and ask for an exchange! My daughter has their sheets I gave her for Christmas. We visited the Brooklinen store in Brooklyn, NY and she mentioned she liked the sateen better than the percale I gave her. They told her they’d exchange them, despite her using them for several months. That’s great customer service!
I just wrote a long, drawn out comment and deleted it right at the end by mistake, ugh. I’ve been reading your blog since the beginning and don’t think I’ve ever commented. Just wanted your readers to know that I finally broke down and bought the king linen sheets during Black Friday. A few months later I bought the king quilt set and the bath sheets. These purchases were a huge splurge for me, and I felt a tad guilty. I’m so happy with everything! The king quilt is a very generous size, which is what I was hoping for. My husband has back issues, and sleeps with a mountain of pillows and cushions under his knees, pulling our other sheets and comforters right off of me in the night. It was a tug of war every night until now! I thought the wrinkles might bug me, but as long as I don’t dry completely, and make the bed immediately, they look great.
Marian, thank you for the many years of inspirational, informative, and thoughtful posts. It’s been such a pleasure to share in all of the wonderful happenings for you and your family. Also so fun to see how your design style has evolved. Love every choice you’ve made in your kitchen, and can’t wait for the final reveal.
