My Favorite Local Antique Stores

I have been asked several times since I moved back to the mid-Atlantic region if I would share some of my favorite antique stores.  I will start by saying, there are a plethora of fantastic antique stores, markets, co-ops, barn sales, consignment shops, and thrift stores all within about an hour from me.  There is no way I can give an exhaustive list, but I wanted to share the places I regularly check out that are either in Hagerstown or within about half an hour.

Beaver Creek Antique Market is my favorite local antique mall.  I used to drive from the Gettysburg area when I lived in PA to shop there every few months.  It has a nice mix of vendors, and I reliably find quality antiques there.  Prices can range from premium to affordable, depending on the vendor and the item, but it’s safe to say there is something for everyone here.

Antique Crossroads is right next door to Beaver Creek, but I don’t visit it as often.  It still has good vendors, quality items, and a huge selection, though.  I think more vendors appeal to my aesthetic at Beaver Creek, but it’s still worth stopping in.  I found this gorgeous antique bird cage in there years ago, and it’s still one of my most unique antique finds.

Memory Lane Antiques has a few vendors I love, and they have great prices.  I have found some great pieces there over the years, including many I sold at the Lucketts Spring Market.  More recently, I bought this duck casserole there.  It’s not an antique, but it always makes me smile and it was under $20.

PenMar Antique Market in Waynesboro, PA, is a bit of a mixed bag for me, but I still go in there a few times each year.  There are still some good vendors, but I’m noticing more and more antiques are being crowded out by Halloween masks, cheap tools, Pokémon cards, and “collectibles.”  I have still found some nice things there, though, like antique frames for paintings and this unique Thebes stool…

James & Jess’ House of Goods is also in Waynesboro, PA, and they have amazing stuff!  In addition to the store owners carrying a wide variety of nice antiques, they have a few antique vendors and artisans who sell out of their store.  I recently bought a bunch of antique frames there, along with this late 1800s box.

Fayetteville Antique Mall in Fayetteville, PA, was a regular stop for me when I lived in PA, but it started going downhill before we moved to Minnesota.  I went there a few months ago, though, and was pleasantly surprised to see more genuine antiques and visually appealing dealer displays.  I was thrilled to see it being rejuvenated, and it’s now back on my circuit when I’m heading in that direction.  I bought this beautiful antique pine hutch there years ago…

I stopped in at Emporium Antiques in Frederick, MD, about a year ago for the first time since moving back to the area, and was happy to see it was just as good as I remembered.  It may be even better.  It’s a huge antique mall with a wide array of quality vendors.  They even have a book seller who specializes in art and design books, so that scored big points with me!

I bought a couple of antique hammered copper molds when I shopped there, along with a few other things.

Back in Hagerstown, MD, I stop in Old Time Treasures every once in a while because I pass it pretty regularly.  It’s an easy place to stop in and take a quick look around.  I found this rare antique ironstone breadbox there for a tiny fraction of what it’s worth.

Route 11 Antique Mall is a relatively new addition, right next door to Old Time Treasures.  I stopped in with my mother-in-law when they were visiting this spring, and it’s a great antique shop.  It’s tidy, with nice displays and quality antiques.  I didn’t buy anything when I stopped in, but several things tempted me, like this vintage rake!

So, if you find yourself in my neck of the woods, these are some antique stores I would send you to!

You can find the post where I shared my favorite “honey holes” before I moved to Minnesota HERE and HERE.  I wrote those posts in 2017, so just keep that in mind.  Some of the places have since closed, moved, or changed their focus.

  1. I always loved to stop by Antique Marketplace in Lemoyne, PA when we would visit my late mother in law. Found some great things over the years. There was also an antique mall located in a barn like building on Rt. 30 in Gettysburg, PA but has since moved now. I cant remember the name but I think you use to frequent there as well. One of my pet peeves is places advertised as antique shops or malls but more of a craft and flea market venue once you get inside. That’s when I know a place is going down.

  2. Thanks for the tips. Maybe we’ll stop in a few this coming weekend when we go to Lucketts! Thanks for that tip too!

  3. Hello Marian….I am just like you in the fact that I can remember just where it was that I got each piece. As I look back on my home it puts a smile on my face to remember the heart pounding feeling knowing, “I scored!!!” Ohhhh that in the gut happiness!!!
I love all your gut wins. The one that really stands out, for me, is the ironstone breadbox. WOW!!!! And I don’t even collect ironstone!!! That is a keeper for sure.
