latest finds

I set out Friday afternoon to hit one of my favorite antique shops and I was not disappointed.  I found…

A small storage caddy that was handmade out of vintage cheese boxes.  How resourceful is that?  And I love the grass green color.

…a tool caddy.  Again, I love the color of the chippy, worn paint.

…an antique sheet music book.

…and some antique primers, readers and other books.

I love ones with names or inscriptions inside.  I can’t resist the history they hold.

All of these things are headed to Lucketts next week!

  1. Great find on the cheese boxes/storage caddy I love to use drawers, cheese boxes ect in different ways just found some old drawers but the cabinet was gone some I found crates that they fit others are waiting for the right fit. Most still had the vintage pulls.

  2. Ooooh love that green box and love the old chippy tray!!!

  3. A 92-year-old family member passed away a few days ago so I am feeling nostalgic. He had some interesting items in his tool shed like (but not as nice as) the items you pictured above. So some items he once enjoyed are now having a new life with younger family members…they will think of him when they see them. Just like the inscription in the book pictured, we can wonder about the history of the person that owned the item and their memory lives on.

  4. I wish I were closer, I would snatch up that tool caddy! Do you know of any small "Luckett's" type shops in the Dallas area? I always see such neat shops and craft fairs up north, but I have never seen one in Texas. I am dying to find one!

  5. That green storage unit out of cheese boxes is awesome! The color is awesome too! I love to read the inscriptions in old books too. People actually cared that they had beautiful penmanship back then. I wish mine was as pretty!

  6. Great finds! I love the old books — they make great display pieces to add height or interest. I bought some old music books (for an accordion, no less) that were falling apart. So I took out the staples and rolled the pages up and tied them with twine! Cool in a tall glass jar! I visit often and love what you do!

  7. Oh that tool caddy is beautiful! Love your finds! I want to say a quick thank you for being so open and sharing your techniques. I know it must be a hard decision on how much to share. With your inspiration and tips this mommy of two boys has been able to make some extra money for her family doing what she loves! Thank you!
