Furniture Feature Friday – Winners & A Link Party!

by | Feb 4, 2010 | Furniture Feature Friday, Furniture Makeovers | 10 comments

And my favorites from last week are…
A fun and funky chair makeover by Kim at The Inadvertent Farmer.   First of all, this chair was really ugly.  It was a blah oak with an even blah-er seat cover.  She borrowed an idea from BHG’s Decorating Ideas for Under $100 and applied foam stickers to up the “fun factor” on this piece.  She then painted it a bright color and covered the seat in a playful fabric.  If you notice, she used the same fabric in a skirt she made for her daughter, who has claimed the chair as her own.  Who can blame her?  A girl’s gotta have good accessories and a chair that matches your outfit is a great accessory!
For those of you who aren’t brave enough (or just flat out do not have the ability, patience, or desire) to hand paint a piece, this is a wonderful alternative.  It adds custom detail and all it takes is some arranging, pulling off the paper, and sticking it on.
You and your little helpers did a wonderful job, Kim!
An honorable mention goes to Danielle from The Vintage Dragonfly and her de-junked trunk.  I often pass up steamer trunks like this that I see at yard sales and thrift stores.  They just look so dreary and heavy.  Danielle showed how to take one of these oldies and turn it into a goody.
It’s simply involves adding feet and attacking it with a brush and white paint.  Which, now that I think of it, what can’t a brush and white paint improve?  This makes a unique coffee table that would add visual interest to any room.

Thanks so much for sharing this idea with us, Danielle.

So, onto the link party!  Here are the rules…

1.) Your post has to be about furniture.  You can share makeovers, awesome finds, favorite pieces, furniture arrangements, or even pieces on your wish list!  There are so many wonderful parties where you can share your accessories and craft projects, so let’s just keep this about furniture.  Built-in furniture like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities do qualify as furniture.
2.) Post a permalink, not the link to your blog.
3.) The link party closes Saturday at midnight PST and I will choose my favorite(s) and feature their post and blog on next week’s FFF.

Link away and knock my socks off!

That chair is too cute and how sweet that her daughter has claimed it as her own!

I would never have even thought to paint a steamer truck, what a cool idea!

What a gorgeous chair…so well done. And I love the color. Her daughter is gorgeous and her skirt is wonderful. Wowzers!! Well done! Love the trunk too…white covers a multitude of sins.

Both highlights are wonderful, but man, that trunk is fabulous! Never thought to whitewash one. Cool idea.

I don't have a furniture post this week, but I wanted to let you know that I've been following your workshop series. I bought myself a filbert and I've been practicing my commas! I'm almost ready to make some scrolls too! I'm making an art project for my bathroom, and I want to embellish it a bit. I'll let you know how it turns out.
