Today I went out antique shopping for the Lucketts fair with my mother-in-law and mom. It’s been a while since I’ve been out looking for goodies, but the Lucketts May Fair is fast approaching and I’ve got to build up my inventory.
I saw these cool arched shutters, but didn’t buy them because they were too expensive.
I did come home with two wooden crates. One of them had this great label on it…
Sort of random things to be packaged together, don’t you think?
The other one has a bit more patina. I also bought some levels…
…these really cool grass green metal dry goods containers…
…a few pieces of ironstone…
…a red metal lab stool, a chippy milking stool, a white doll chair, a balance scale, a small wooden wheel and a few other things.
I also found a beautiful antique dresser. It needs a little love, but that’s something I can give it. You’ve come to the right home.
We also had a nice lunch at Olive Garden (I was very good and tracked my calories.) It was so nice to get out and about again and I can’t wait for yard sale season to start.
It was chilly today, but spring is almost here…
I’ve been wearing spring-ish clothes to try to hurry it along, but I just end up with cold legs.
On the health/weightloss front, I bought a heart monitor to gauge calories burned in my workouts and to make sure I’m staying “in the zone” (which, I’m still trying to figure out that equation!) The instructions for this thing are insane…
Seriously? Someone needs to make a Pinterest-style tutorial or something for visual learners. I just started pressing buttons.
I feel like I should get to walk the stage in a cap and gown as soon as I get it all figured it out.

Love what is your van & those dry goods containers…GREAT! Looking forward to May!
You’re So Lucky!!
Oh I love everything that I see….I’m second guessing myself on weather or not I can pull this off before May…but posts like this keep me motivated…i’ve never done anything like this before and I’m also a Jersey chick trying life in VA (ok not trying it’s been 3 years now) but we’ll see….Thank you!
Hi Marian…I could be wrong but I think the “candy marshmallow peanuts” label is referring to a type of candy. It is an orange peanut-shaped marshmallow candy. They taste sorta gross so I can’t imagine 20 lbs of them 😉
LOL! I was going to tell her the same thing! They are nasty little things.
And I was going to say it too, they’re also known as Circus Peanuts. But I actually love them, I think they’re tasty 🙂
I was going to say the same thing! I forgot all about those things, they were yucky!! I agree with the comment about 20lbs ??? yikes.
OMG you guys! I’d forgotten all about those nasty candies until I saw Beth’s post and all the replies! Those things were disgusting, but of course as a kid I’d eaten my fair share, which only goes to prove kids will eat anything they think of as a treat. As an adult, I firmly believe they were made from that expandable construction insulation you can find at the hardware store, dyed orange. Yikes!
I LOVE circus peanuts..am I the only one? They are PURE sugar though so i can only eat 1 or 2 a year. LOL
You are not the only one – I still love circus peanuts!!
You are not alone! My husband would buy them by the gross (very punny)
My mom always said that they tasted like ether smelled…nauseating, apparently! (her memories of childbirth back in the days when they knocked you out!)
I used to love those things but I can not even imagine eating one right now!
That’s my opinion too! Called “circus peanuts”, maybe?? My mom loved them but I think they’re AWFUL! The crates, however, are fabulous. 🙂
HAHAHA My grandfather used to always have those in a jar. Funny, I found a jar just like his in an antique store a few years ago and had to buy it. I’ll leave out the Circus Peanuts though!
Love those green containers!!!
I’m so jealous that you can find such wonderful things on a weekday! I have to hold out and hope that my husband will watch the kids on Sundays when our big flea market is! Lovely finds!

Yup…candy marshmallow peanuts are those orange ‘circus peanuts’…
Oh, I had no idea! I thought it was listing separate ingredients. Ha! I hate marshmallows, so I never ate those.
That container would look great with a little dark wax added to it. It would bring that crate to life! 🙂
Love those green metal containers and the milking seat. Maybe because green is my favorite color. Which heart monitor did you get? I want the UP band from Jawbone I’ve considering them for the family.
One of my favorite things is a car packed with vintage junk! It just makes you feel like you’ve really accomplished something! I can’t wait for the weather to warm so we can get back to junking! Looks like you found some great stuff. I looove the green on the containers. It’s just perfect!
Julie
I can’t wait to see what you do with the dresser. I really love the white pitcher. I goes with everything.
Hi! I’ve been following for a few years. I was just dying to go to Lucketts, but knew that would never happen anytime soon, because we live in Illinois. Well anyway my husband travels a lot for work. He doesn’t even go quite that far very often, but anyway he needed to go to Maryland, so he wanted to take us all with ( which we haven’t done that since before kids). So low and behold on the way I just happened to ask him how far out of the way it would be (knowing it would be crazy far), but it was only 45 minutes. So we stopped there on the way back home, the day before that crazy big snow storm and caught in that as well and kept us a day behind schedule getting home. Anyway I was thrilled. It’s a gorgeous place with a great atmosphere! I already knew you weren’t there anymore, but didn’t care. I still wanted to go. Long story… I know, but just thouht I’d tell ya! I’d love to come back for the fair, but don’t think thats happening. Ive got your book, so maybe I’ll catch up with ya at a book signing some day. 🙂
Wish we could garage sale together! We definitely pack our vehicles the same! Lol!
Great finds! Love that ironstone pitcher. Good luck with your heart monitor.
Hey! That looks exactly like the inside of my car….full of wonderful junk, I’m also getting ready for our big show here in Oklahoma, Vintage Market Days in May. Wish I could shop your booth at lucketts! Good luck!
So strange, while reading your blog and seeing the words candy, marshmallow, and peanuts, I was thinking of the circus peanut candy. I see a lot of others were too. I love the ironstone pitcher and can’t wait to see what you do to the dresser. Wishing Spring would hurry and arrive also. Have a great and productive week. Sheila
Reading this made me want to immediately go thrift store and antique shop shopping….Maybe I can fit one store into my schedule! 🙂
Happy Birthday to You, Marian!
I’m still stuck on the 20 POUNDS of marshmallow peanuts! I can still remember how they tasted….I haven’t had them in years….and years. Sounds like a fun day….you sure have some good pickings in PA….
i love those orange peanuts. they were such a treat from my great grandpa when i was a kid. but i laughed out loud at kimberly’s comment about them being made from expandable construction insulation. she’s probably right but i still love them. they’re a warm fuzzy for me. anyway, can’t wait to see photos of your booth and how you incorporated these cool finds into it. thank you.
Absolutely LOVE those green containers! Great find! I’m 25 weeks pregnant, and reading all these comments about marshmallow peanuts has given me a sudden craving! A trip to the candy store may be in my future. 🙂
Love, love, love the crate! Would be perfect to store books or toys in my son’s room. Would go with the decor. Would you be willing to sell and ship it? If so, what do you want for it? Also, is it smooth – any dangerous edges, splintered areas, etc?
Will you be selling your milk paint at the Lucketts Fair?
Hi Marian,
May I ask if you are willing to seel the marshmellow circus peanuts crate before the Fair. They were my Father favorite type of candy and can remeber so clearly him eating them while watching a ball game on TV. He has been gone for a few years now, I would really love the crate for my home. Thanks so very much…….
Pat
ok I had to laugh. Candy: Marshmallow Peanuts. Punctuation matters!
Marshmallow peanuts are those nasty peanut candy also called “Circus Peanuts” 🙂
Awesome Finds. Sure wish I lived closer to “Lucketts” – I’d be over there in a heartbeat pickin up some of your treasures! 🙂
L O V E the crates and green metal dry goods containers. I can’t wait till you open your online store! I will be opening my booth next month and am in need of some great items that I KNOW you will have! Will you offer bulk wholesale items for vendors?
Thanks so much! Have fun at the fair! 🙂
I LOVED Circus Peanuts as a child, but haven’t had them in years. Probably one of those things you remember as being better than they actually were. Love those little green dry goods containers. They look like miniatures of those olive buckets that are so popular right now.
I was shopping at my local Goodwill this week and thought of you and what wonderful items you happen upon when you are out picking, because as I looked closely at the shelves and found a really pretty vase that looked vintage till I I turned it over and it said……1-800-flowers!!! Just don’t find those awesome items like you do Marian!
ha ha when I got my nikon dslr I thought by the time I figured out all the buttons I could fly a jet. what is with all the tech stuff jeez! love your buys we don’t have the variety here. I know you will MMS magic on them ;).
Marion, you find the coolest things. I never see things like that or if I do they’re more than I want to pay. Living on the panhandle of the Gulf Coast in Florida things are a bit pricy for all the tourist.
On another note,we had beautiful sunny spring days Monday and Tuesday, temperatures in the seventies. I think the weather and you inspired me to do something about my body and health. I walked two miles Mon, Tues & Thurs. this week so far and I’m eating fruit, vegetables, chicken and fish. I feel better already. I seem to have a very determined attitude about it this time that I’ve never had in the past. I have found that walking is a great time to pray. Have a great weekend.
Nice finds! I love a car full of vintage!! As for calories etc. Not sure exactly what your plan is, but my thought is this…if it difficult to figure out ~it is difficult to follow…this might be a recipe for disappointment. I recently was advised by someone who knows a thing or two about weight, muscle & working out that I need to eat more protein. Not just more protein but more protein at the right times. After two months of eating close to 100 grams of protein a day at the right times, I feel great & definitely have more muscle tone without changing my work out schedule. I plan on doing a post on this soon to explain what I learned. Food/eating is 80% of the equation in being in good shape, so getting it right goes a long way. (…and an occasional Dr. Pepper is allowed for sure!!)

In middle school we had to wear the hear rate monitors that you strap up around your chest under your bust. Hated them. They had a little watch type counter that went with them so we could track our heart rate. I don’t remember having to program them each time or anything. Once the monitor was in sync with it’s own wrist counter you were good to go. I think our teacher’s just told us what our target should be based on gender and age (maybe weight was thrown in there too).
These finds look like fun! Have fun wiping off the dust and giving them love!
What wondrous finds. Love the green of those containers.
Sarah
Great finds you lucky lady. Love the green goods containers, thery wld be great for my houes. You have a good haul in the back of that van!!
Cynthia
You found some great things! I have a FitBit. It keeps track of your steps and calories burned, even the quality of your sleep, then it syncs with your computer or smart phone
It’s a little pricey, but it’s so easy to use that it’s worth it! I was shocked to discover that, even on days I considered very busy and active, I was sedentary a good part of the day. No
Wonder the scale seems stuck!:(
can I say jealous?! such awesome finds. Spring is definitely here in So Cal (85 degrees), but finding great, inexpensive junk on this coast is NOT the same as finding great stuff in the prairie areas or even toward the east coast. Texas has my heart when it comes to finding great stuff. Kudos on your pickins. Now….if I ever decide to start a business in California I think I’d rent a U-haul and travel around to find all that cool stuff. Only problem I see is that I’d want to keep it all for my own home. Lucketts is lucky to have you. Good luck with the Fair.
Those instructions! Aackk!
Love your finds though!
I am impressed you kept that gadget. I would have looked at those directions and took it back to the store. Keep at the hard work you are doing! I am sure all of your diligence will pay off!
I have completed application to sell your paint but have not heard back. What do I need to do? Thanks-Judy
Ooo, those green metal containers … I sense a new MMS Milk Paint colour right about here. Nice!
How fun to get out and how nice to be with two Moms. I would love to start antiquing
But don’t. Know where to begin. Any advice? Marilee
The shopping posts are my favorite! And the before and afters. NOTHING BEATS ANTIQUE SHOPPING!!!
Ok, I’ll take the green buckets and the red industrial chair thank you very much! I SO wanna go shopping with you someday. 🙂 So does my 15 year old son, lol!
Great finds!
The green buckets are cool!
Hi Marian… what a car load of treasures. I especially like the green containers. I would have bought those too. Perfect for my style. The lab stool and the milking stool would go in my cart too. Anxious to see what you do to them for the sale.
Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Audrey Z.
Hmmm, if those Circus Peanuts are so terrible tasting, why are they still made, and for sale in grocery stores everywhere??? Didn’t anybody else find the bags of Easter Chicks and Rabbits made by Brachs for sale at Easter? Same candy as Circus Peanuts, just bright Spring colors. Loved your junkin finds, Marian. So glad you got to spend the day with your Mom and MIL.
How absolutely fun! That’s great that you all like to spend time together. Enjoy your time together! It looks like you did some great hunting together!!
My theory is that if I need instructions to figure something out, it’s the wrong product for me! Sometimes I have to break that rule, but I try not to!
Go for it!, Barbara
How is it that I was able to use the word “together” three times in the first three sentences!? It must be that massive vocabulary I have!
Great finds!! Gets me pumped to go hit Salvation Army (best option at the moment).
Beautiful finds! I wish I could purchase that crate!
fab finds! I passed up some great ones today – just not enough room in the house, but actually thought of your blog & the magic you’d have done to them
Love that white pitcher!
Unfortunately, I can’t think about acquiring decor items just yet. We just moved into our new house last weekend, and are still living out of boxes. My main focus at the moment is repainting all those walls. I’ve been speckling most of the week…
Weight Watchers has a cool little gadget that you wear and it tracks your movements in all directions and tells you how many activity points you earn each day. One activity point equates to one more point of food you can EAT and ENJOY!!! Easy peasy!!
Wow, great stuff!! I love those little green buckets- they are a fabulous color. My husband just started wearing the Jawbone UP wristband. I really want one. You wear it 24/7, and it even tracks your sleep quality. You can plug it in to your smart phone and it uploads all of your info on tracking your health. It’s pretty cool!
Love your blog! If you want to warm up your legs come on over to Arizona! We’ve been swimming everyday for the last month 😉
Love your antique finds, such fun!
Think that the label with the words “Candy Marshmallow Peanuts” may be referring to Marshmallow Peanuts or Circus Marshamallow Peanuts, a candy that I recall enjoying as a child.
These are sold at Amazon: Circus Marshmallow Peanuts, 16 Oz. (1 Lb) by Spangler $8.95.
It’s a great crate, though!
Thanks for sharing all that you do – your blog is delightful!
You found some fun stuff for Lucketts! I am sure they will be snapped up quickly. I am suppose to be dropping a few pounds. But am not juggling my day to day routine all that well right now. 🙂
I know this website provides quality dependent articles or
reviews and extra information, is there any other site which presents such stuff in quality?
