Dear, where are my tennis balls?

I have had this beautiful ironstone wash bowl sitting on the floor of my office for months. I pull it out every once in a while to use it for a picture, but I’ve always struggled with what to put in it. It’s just so big. Everything I drop in it shrinks away and just doesn’t work. As I’ve been working on the decor for my living room, I kept coming back to that bowl.
So, I filled it with some balls of twine, pinecones and some “moss spheres” I made out of tennis balls.
I simply hot glued sheet moss to tennis balls that had lost their bounce.
This arrangement isn’t as “springy” as I would like for the season, but it’s what I had on hand, it was free and I love how the textures play off each other.
More to come…

I love the idea of tennis balls. THey are such a good size, Imade some mini ones using practice golf balls. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one still using pinecones. I just love the texture to much to put them away for fall.
This is great!!

I foresee an increase in the sales of tennis balls to women of all ages. Hmmmm. I'm thinking now would be a good time to buy stock in Wilson or Dunlop.
Well, I'll be…… I could use these in my arrangements! Wouldn't my customers be surprised? 🙂

well as long as they have lost their bounce 😉 love anything mossy
There is just no end to your creativity! 😀 I love it! Thanks for sharing…
Ha ha, I just thought about doing this today! There were tennis & golf balls in my driveway, plus we live on a golf course – gotta think of something to do with those shagged balls :). Of course this looks wonderful Miss MS.
That is so nifty!! Love it.. so pretty too. That is one gorgeous bowl!
WOW!! Fabulous idea!!!!
what a great idea! Maybe some lemon slices or a few dried flowers added would help it look more springy…not that it looks bad…OK, I'm stopping now!
Love it, and I love pinecones any time of the year.
Sometimes I think we should just display what we love and not care what the season is. I love the bowl and everything it January through December.
Tennis balls were a great idea. Isn't it nice to be able to use what you have?
Brilliant idea! In fact, I have the perfect place for that bowl of goodness. May I borrow it for this weekend? I'll give it back.. 🙂

Gosh, why didn't I think of that, I have some tennis balls laying around and we don't even play tennis! I could have used those at least a million time when I was looking for a ball shape to cover with this and that. Thanks for the idea! I love your bowl.
Tennis balls. What will you think of next! I love it. Thanks as always for the great ideas!

Love this just beautiful. Kym
Lovely, and I think it is "spring-y" This time of year, I love to find the pinecones that survived our harsh winters. Then I collect them up and use them in many of my decorations. I love the moss, too . . .all you need is a sweet bouquet of flowers (or a flower) top off your lovely display.
P.S. Love, love the new color!!!
Great idea!!! 🙂
Long time ago I found your site. Now I fixed it on my blog – your creative ideas are wonderful!

This would make my dog nuts! He has a serious tennis ball addiction. They look great.
Okay seriously? My two rambunctious ones would figure out there were tennis balls under that moss and that would be the end of that lovely decor!
I REALLY need to figure out a centerpiece for my dining table, that's easy to move but looks lovely. Hmmm.
Love it!
You are so clever! I love this idea. So unique and economical as well.

Maybe add a few little colorful fabric flowers instead of pinecones?
I am laughing! smiles.
Hmmmm….I've thought of using my hubby's extra bowling balls (don't even ask how many has please) for garden art, but I wonder if his golf balls are too small for this idea? OH! There might be some softballs around here somewhere. He no longer plays, just umpires, but they might be closer in size, right?
I love how you put the balls of twine in! BRILLIANT!
