Here are a couple of simple thrift store makeovers. I found these ceramic birds last week at a Goodwill and fell in love with them. They were pretty as is, but had this weird goldish kind of spray over them, so I decided to spray them a glossy white…

Amazing what paint can do, huh? The possibilities are limitless! Love them both just the way they are!

I just found your blog, and I'm really enjoying everything. I love the birds. If it were me, I would glaze them. But I like things to look old and distressed. That's just my taste! I'm going to follow your blog. Love it!
Not that I'm as talented as you, but sometimes when I do a project I live with it for awhile before adding to it ~ especially if I like it as is already. The birds look very fresh right now. I like them white, but I guess it depends where you are putting them and what else is going on in the room.
Wow-this is wild!
I found the same birds @ a thrift shop this morning. I found 2 big & 1 little and they were already glossy. I LOVE, LOVE , LOVE them!
I love those birds! I have a thing for birds these days! I found some similar to those in a little shop and love them!!
Thank you for visiting my blog! It led me to yours!!

I like Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions comment – live with it and see how you like it. I like them white 🙂
I normally like things distressed but these birds look like they should be glossy white….I vote for keeping them the way they are….they look beautiful.
Great finds! I love the birds as is with the glossy white.
Beautiful transformations! I like the birds they way they are….
The birds are darling. I wonder if you'd want to do some drybrushing on the oil rubbed box? I love the patina of oil rubbed bronze. It would be so pretty with some more depth, maybe? I'm not a pro at this, so I defer to you. 🙂
Man! Our thrift stores never have anything good and if they do they want an arm and a leg for it!
I have a linky party going on come on over and link up! http://theshadesofpink.blogspot.com/2009/09/room-month-shade-tutorial.html

I like what you did with these and would love to know how you prepped them and what kind of paint you used. I have one very like these that I’d love to paint. Thanks, Madmairgread
