I’m almost done with my HGTV.com projects for fall and Thanksgiving. Here’s a peek at a couple of them…
One more left to finish. So, while I was working on those, my “intern”, Charlene, was working on some stripping, sanding and painting. While getting ready to don a mask, she informed me that she wants to be referred to as Mini Mustard Seed.
She’s a hard worker and great at organization, so we’re going to work on my office together over the next few weeks. A part of that plan will include reducing the amount of stuff I have greatly, moving seasonal things to the basement and then using antique pieces to provide beautiful storage. So, I started her on my French armoire that was hauled all the way up from Florida. It had a painted design on it that needed to be sanded off before painting, so it wouldn’t show through the new coat of paint and distressing.
I also had her clean and stain the mirrored armoire in the foreground.
Lastly, Mini Mustard Seed removed the paint from the top of this dresser and then painted the base in ASCP’s Cream. I have a really beautiful stencil from Royal Design Studios that I’m then going to use on the front. Oh! Do you see the ASCP Olive dresser peaking out under that crib sheet? I’m hoping to haul it up for a photo shoot before I take it to Lucketts. More to come…

Lucky you, Lucky Mini Mustard Seed.
It's great to have help that is as interested in recreating as you are.
Many happy creations together!
…and I will him 'Mini Me'. lol By the way, I love the dresser! Have great week!
I'm a relatively new follower and I'm just starting to use ASCP. I'm just wondering if you always sand furniture or if you ever use a stripper? I have an old chest that someone before me "highlighted" in royal blue- not pretty! I was planning to strip it, but I see you just sanding? What do you recommmend? Thanks!! And, I hate that I don't still live near the Lucketts store- I grew up in LoCo 🙂
yay for a Mini Mustard Seed!!! think of how much MORE you can get done with another set of hands 🙂 lucky girls!! (both of you!)
Mini Mustard Seed looks like a great apprentice, and i bet her help with organization will be wonderful on so many levels. I can't wait to see the end result of the pieces you guys are working on… and i love the glitter "give thanks" … the color is so pretty…

Mini Mustard Seed? How sweet is that! Awesome that you have an intern now. I LOVE LOVE that mirrored armoire. Is that going in the office redo?
very fun! Your Mini Mustard Seed is doing an amazing job! And I'm sure you are beyond thrilled to have help with your ever growing work load!
Mini Mustard Seed, you are adorable! I love it! Nice work! Can't wait to see the armoire.

Oh can't wait to see the finished products. I need a mini moi! Wait, I have one, he is about 5'2", has read hair, and talks non-stop. He only shows up for work though when it is something really interesting, like cleaning boards we found on the road, or pulling a million staples out of a chair. He would love to get his hands on that palm sander, but I am afraid he would sand my entire house down to the nubbins before he was stopped. Good luck!
How cool you have an intern! Mini Mustard Seed is adorable. That Olive ASCP dresser looks amazing. I can't wait to see the photo shoot.
I'm so jealous of "miss mini mustard seed" and your big workshop/basement. You are truly blessed to have all that space and help. I'm thinking of buying myself a new sander, do you prefer the round to the square one?

I love your basement and ALL your on-going projects! You inspire me. 🙂
Miss Mini Mustard Seed is a sweetie…love her cell phone nearby (in the first photo). lol She's sooooo like my teen daughter! They are tethered to their friends!
Best wishes!
I would love to work as an 'intern' under you! Wonderful for you to have some help! Can't wait to see how this turns out.
How awesome that you have a new intern! Although, it doesn't look like you need any help with organization, but you should be able to pump out tons more projects to keep us in awe even more!
Welcome Mini MMS!!
Having an intern is such a smart idea. I think I'll start looking around for one. I love your workspace, too.
Oh, how I would love to have a "mini" me. You are so productive anyway, I can only imagine how much the two of you will accomplish now. She is a lucky girl.
oh, to have that basement! AND the help! now, if I were only 20 yrs younger I would dive right into this – 🙂

How nice to have an intern! Mini Mustard Seed surely must be having a blast in your basement!
Everything looks so nice. I'm sure it will get snatched up at Lucketts.
Oh my goodness …. total awesomeness!!!
LOVE IT! It's got to be wonderful to have some help. Love the crayons….I just used them on a kids table and chairs for Thanksgiving with a paper table runner. I put them in tarnished silver cups. Can't wait to see what you did with them. The glitter banner looks great too! Can't wait to see your office. I am totally jealous you have an office space. Mine got cleaned out with baby nummber two:)
I LOVe the Mini Musturd Seed. What a lucky girl to be working under you and learning all your great techniques 😉
Welcome, Mini Mustard Seed! Oh, how I love the orange glitter garland you made. I use glitter a lot and wonder if you have a tip on how to keep it from getting everywhere? Even if I use paper underneath, I still find glitter everywhere, afterward.
Love the dresser. Absolutely beautiful.
You are living the dream…who wouldn't want two more hands? She's sounds fun to be with and organized too!
So excited to see what you will do with the amoire from Florida. By the way, love the crayon photo…I have a crayon lust, love them and will never out grow them. Must have a new box every year, just cause I can!
Yay for Mini Mustard Seed. Excited to see the "afters" when you "move mountains" in your office! I've been working on cleaning up my office for far too long, I might be joining yall by having a deadline to finish over the next two weeks also!
I think it was time, you really needed an assistant with all that work, good luck to Mini Mustard Seed!

So luck to have a Mini-Me! Can't wait to see the HGTV projects!
I'm so envious of your basement work space! I'm here in sunny Arizona, yes it's 115 today! My work space for painting is on my patio. Needless to say I'm trying to work early in the morning (when it's only 89 degrees) or in the evening. It's a sickness. We've got to paint! love your stuff, Sue

Mini was long overdue! Good for you!
Awesome projects lined up there!! It's fabulous to have a girlie ready to jump right in and help while learning along with you!
FINALLY – the Armoire!
Oh gosh I want to see something in FRENCH Grey 🙂
I so miss my basement! Had a huge one when we lived in Centreville! I could easily fill it with projects and would love the space to work. Have a 3 car garage now and only one car, but it is too darn hot out there right now. However, I will be able to work out there once it cools off.
I love the mirrored armoire– it's fabulous!
Aren't you something adding employees during this economic uncertainty! I already love her! So exciting!!
Wouldn't it be fun to guess which stencil you will be using on the dresser….it would be hard to pick just one!
Haha – mini mustard seed is so cute! Love the give thanks banner!
My daughter was helping me paint a table yesterday. I can't wait to see the olive dresser, from what I can see it looks like a great color.
Wait, when did you announce you had a mini mustard seed? How did I miss that? Welcome Charlene. Wait, did I not heavily advise that over the last year you should try an intern?…I am SO glad you have some help. And a cutie to boot.
I think it is great training for children and young people to help out. We have a couple of Jr. Bricoleurs. They help us a lot, and at the same time they are learning. Terry
