Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Song

About 8 years ago, I snuck off into another room a couple of days before Christmas and played the guitar and sang I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas for my blog readers. Unfortunately, that video was accidentally deleted a few years ago.

Since that first song, we’ve done a song for Christmas almost every year.  We’ve done duets, group songs with friends and family involving preschool toys, kazoos, and popcorn-tin drums. It’s been so much fun and I know my blog followers have enjoyed seeing that different side of me (and seeing more of my family.)  Every year, I receive messages asking if I’m going to do a Christmas song and I try to pick a fun song that we can perform for you. I didn’t last year because I was recovering from shoulder surgery, but I felt like this year needed a song.  It’s been quite the year!

We were going to record a song over Thanksgiving, so we could have more people involved, but that trip didn’t happen.  This year it’s simply me and my guitar, just how it started.

And I picked a song for Christmas that I thought was a fitting hope for this year.

“Someday soon, we all will be together…  Until then, we’ll have to muddle through somehow…”

Thanks for muddling through 2020 with me here on my blog and social media channels.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas and a happy, fulfilling new year!

If you’d like to hear a song for Christmas that includes my family, take a look at my blog post from 2015.

PS – For those who asked about a finger-knitting tutorial, I made one on Instagram Stories yesterday and shared it on my highlights.  You can find it HERE.

So many have had much worse things to deal with this year. Christmas sans company is not so bad. Sigh.

  16. Thank you so much, Marian, for sharing your beautiful voice and this special song with all of us. It gives me hope to hear that someone knows how hard it has been for everyone, in varying stages. I am tired of people saying they won’t let this time take away their liberties and won’t let it stop them from enjoying their lives. For me the enjoyment is knowing that we will have time with our loved ones in the new year..Merry Christmas to you and your family and stay well..xxoJudy

That song holds a special place in my heart. It was my Dad’s favorite Christmas song. He told me that when he was stationed in Europe during WW 11 the armed forces radio didn’t play the song when it was released because they believed it would make the soldiers too homesick. Ever since he told me that story this songs brings tears to my eyes.

I hope you and those you love have a heart filled Christmas.

  34. Marian,
Your beautiful rooms and the other things you’ve shared with us through the last few years have been not just an inspiration to me, but an “escape” to a nicer place than what my surroundings are right now. We’ve had so much adversity and I pray it will get better, but I just don’t know when. Looking at your home brings me a peace I don’t have here yet. You have a beautiful, calming voice. Thank you for this Merry Christmas Present. I know we all love your posts, but I felt particularly that the Lord sent it to my heart for my specific needs today, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. You’ve been a blessing to me today, thank you. Who is blessed more–the giver or the receiver? Both are equally….He is using you for His special purposes.

l always thought of your personal decorating style as ” less is more”. adding boxwood green to the blue and white palette was the first thing l noticed. now l see lots of interesting personal items mixed with green and l love it. your houses have always looked like homes since the early days in PA.
