Over the past couple of months I’ve been working on my work office (not to be confused with our home office) for a magazine feature. It’s been so fun moving things around and adding some pops of color to inject a bit more personality into the space. The art director asked me to move the fabric from my mirrored armoire, which wasn’t being photographed to my French armoire, which was. Well, the inside was an orangish-yellow pine and I was not going to have that in a magazine.
Here’s the best before picture of the interior I could find. See…knotty, yellow, orangish, not cute.
So, I went to my paint stash to decide on a color. Since this was the inside of a piece, I could have a little fun with it. I decided to use ASCP Antoinette, which is a soft ballet pink.
Since there are inset panels in the doors, I decided to paint those in ASCP Old White to make a feature of the detail. I did not bother with wax, but simply buffed the paint with a soft cloth to smooth it out a bit.
And I moved my fabric over and made sure it was folded, stacked and color coordinated.
The pink is a little surprise when you open the doors, but it makes sense because there is pink in the rug.
…and with two boys and a husband, there’s just not going to be a lot of opportunity for me to use pink in my house.
I did some more painting today, but only two small pieces and I’ll save the waxing for tomorrow. I have a lot to do over the next week to get ready to fill my space again at Lucketts, but I need to remember to pace myself.
Before I sign off for the night, I have to say a huge thank you to all of my readers. Your comments about my TV appearance have been so sweet and encouraging. It means a lot to know I have so many people cheering me on. This really is a very special community and I’m honored to have so many amazing friends. Big hugs and thanks.
